They are making an Evil Dead series and it actually looks awesome!?

What is this devilry? This looks way too good for it to be true.

This is good news
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

Got to admit, been following this for a while and was HIGHLY sceptical.

But that trailer....

It's.....

PERFECTION.

It's capturing everything that Evil Dead should be.
meh. Link was dead :(

What is the show going to be like?

Is it about stopping the Army of Darkness? How did it start? Did somebody get their hands on the recordings?

Looking at it I am getting a Supernatural + Reaper vibe. A more gory but more silly version of the current stock of monster of the week type of shows.

Have no background information on this show but it looks amazing. Is it adapted from a book or something?

It's a TV series sequel to a film trilogy: Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness. They are horror comedy (cult?) classics from the Raimi brothers. ED2 is something of a bigger budget remake of ED1 though (kinda like El Mariachi --> Desperado).

To be honest, I've been having a pretty troubled time lately in the "real world" and I've turned to some pretty serious, inspiring literature to cope and think through these issues. One book in particular recently has taught me a little bit about facing the world head on, being honest with what's in front of me, and treating others with respect and consideration. Like my initial reaction to everything shouldn't be reaching for a joke; I should be less selfish, less self-serving to be more accurate, and try to meet people on their terms more. In other words, I've learned quite a bit about -- and I can't say it in any better words -- the importance of being earnest. The name of this life-changing book, if you're interested (and you may have already guessed), is Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, a movie novelization by Suzanne Weyn.

I am a proud owner of a signed copy of Army of Darkness, with a photo of Bruce Campbell giving me bunny ears moments before he signed it.

I've had other brushes with famous people, but none so special.

I've never understood why Campbell never became a bigger name.

There is another parallel universe, a more just universe, where Bruce Campbell is the highest grossing actor of all time, where teenage girls fall over themselves screaming his name and universities and hospitals strip clubs are named after him.

Evil Dead 3 has to be one of the funniest films. I have to watch them all again!

Hail to the king, baby.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

PS. I don't want to derail this thread or anything, but it got me thinking about the Adventures of Brisco County Jr.

I remember liking that show back in the day, but I was probably only like 14 or so when it was out. Was it really any good/worth searching for the series to rewatch?

Brisco was fantastic. Western and Sci-fi mized with... I don't know The Lone Ranger vs Indina Jones or something. I always felt that the series was just getting started with that weird orb shit. They could have gone anywhere with that.

This show is about to happen in about a week - I'm going to order the channel to get access, and I will be terribly bitter if it sucks. I have loved these films from the start.

Be careful you don't watch the Evil Dead re-make that just come out about a year or two ago. I would suggest just jumping into Evil Dead 2 & Army of Darkness. If desired, go back and watch Evil Dead (the original) to see what a more serious take on on the story in Evil Dead 2 was like.

Oh yah good point. The first ED is actually more horror than horror-com. But I think it's worth watching, since it has effective frights and plenty of splatter.

My review concurs with Ash's final word in the first episode:

Groovy.
