Can we keep all discussion regarding the NFL fantasy football league to this thread and not open any private messages? I'd like to see what people are proposing to each other. It all helps with my understanding of the game. The waiver wire is still something I'm getting used to. I've not understood it the last 3 years.
If I'm number 1 on the waiver wire and make a trade, I drop down to 12th. However, I don't think I pulled back up to number 1 for the rest of the season.
If I'm a lower number, is there still benefit for trying to grab someone?
Lastly, are you looking for a certain something when you go on there?
It's hard to believe you still don't fully understand the waiver wire, Tatts, but I'll try to help explain it a little more.
All the available players have an 'FA' beside them when they're considered free agents and you can make as many trades to and from there during the free agency period. This usually starts sometime early Wednesday morning for me (gmt-5) and lasts until the games begin on sunday (1 o'clock pm my time).
During this time beginning Sunday at 1 pm until sometime early Wednesday morning, all players not on someone's team are considered on waivers. And if you want one, for example let's say Jamaal Charles got hurt in Sundays game and will be out for the year, and nobody happened to already own his backup, Kniles Davis (although someone does own him but this is just an example ), then Kniles Davis would become a hot commodity. So people wanting him would issue a waiver claim, and if more than one issued a claim for him, the person with the lowest waiver wire number would get him, and be pushed down a few numbers, most likely to the end of the line.
That's the waiver wire in a nutshell. So since you have the first waiver pick, you can have first claims to the next player you see that you feel you need. It should be someone worth using your pick for.
And just because you pick a player, and go to the end of the line, as players ahead of you use their picks, you start making your way back towards the front again.
That's about all I feel you were unclear about, but don't be skerred to ask questions.
