Many people use the argument when speaking on the subject of time travel that if we were to one day be able to do so, then wouldn't we have already traveled back and informed us on the subject?
Well, my theory is that the reason no one from the future has traveled back in time and shared future technologies or information with ourselves, is because we will never be able to travel backwards in time to any point before the first receiver is invented and built. For example, we build the first device that allows for the receiving of information from the future on 1 Jan 2050. Anytime after 1 Jan 2050, we can send information back to that device we created on that day. We will of course, be able to send information back to any date post 1 Jan 2050, from any point in the future, because once the receiving device is invented and built on that date, it will be there each day after, and so forth.
My theory is that we haven't invented the proper receiving type devices, or machines, whatever you feel best suits the theory.
This is only my theory on time travel backwards in time. Once the receiver device is built, theoretically, we should also be able to send information forward through time, because the receivers are already there. I believe the limit on how far we can go forward into the future would be a measure of available power. The further from one date to another, either way, the more power required. I believe as well we're talking about power on the massive scale.
This is how I theorize the beginnings of time travel will occur.
I liked what Interstellar stated about time travel, what if as human's we have ability just to perceive time, but our physical construct is not perfect enough to attain this travel.
First we will have to re-construct ourselves to travel in Space, far before we can travel in time. The construct needed might involve moving to a different plane/dimension to accomplish this task.
Right now in our present form we can view the Stars and Time itself, but we frankly lack the ability and right construct.
