ECLIPSE VI R6: IH, CF, Tatts, D'rek, Tapper, Blend , Gnaw, Twelve, Khell

Definitely possible. It's conceivable that I could pin him on this move. Interceptor to the GC => cruiser to his dread hex, but I don't think I want an alliance that badly (sorry).

besides, he could pretty easily just build another and move it -- he definitely has resources for it -- and then I'd be stuck deciding whether to commit my fleet against his dreads.

He's also not be wasting his dread. You have 12 shots, of which 5 need to hit, and he has missile shields. He would win and have a very decent chance of beating the ancient too.

The GC pins everything so you couldn't do that.

Edit: and he needs 6 hits to destroy my dread, don't undersell it :D

IH has 6 hp minus 2 computers for my missiles but not cannons. 12 shots fired. Odds are good I'd get 2 6s minimum. Leaves 4 hp. Nova burst would leave 3 hp. I get 2 cannon shots with +2 computers. He'd get 2 shots with +1 computer.
Say I retreat at 4 hp his initiative is worse than the ancient so he'd have to hit me first and then try to retreat. Ancients would fire IH puts in retreat order. Ancients fire again because they have initiative. Chances are IH would lose the dread.

Next round he can upgrade tech to be more scary and possibly have Tappers help.

Oh, didn't know that. Shows how many times I have fought the GC.

Could conceivably move through the ancient homeworld in the same way I guess.

This is why this game is sooo much fun. Also it's way better with people than against the AI. I downloaded the eclipse game on my wife's Ipad and have clocked a fair number of games now. The computer does some very stupid moves. Like almost never defending the GC with starbases, moving more than they can afford and lose production only to reinfluence the very next move. Never reacting. Seriously that has to be it's biggest weakness. Even when they have money left to afford a reaction it just doesn't do it.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

So 1 in 9 I destroy both your dreads, one in 3 I destroy 1 and about 30% odds of survival. I'd take those odds :D

Although IH, if you do happen to go for that hex, I might be willing to protect the Western front.

The orion value your cagey, warlike ways as well and might be willing to work on a plan to pincer Tatts.

'course, we'd need diplo, which would mean you should go for that hex if possible.

or I could move in and take it and you all can get bent. my 4 cruisers would mince your pitiful dreads, even if there are 2 of them

D'rek, This is why I said that you should have went for the starbases, plasma cannons and advanced materials instead of wasting your tech on the adv economy for what looked to be just to spite me. Why do you think I was so successful with the Draco last game. I got starbases very early and the threat of losing ships early against them before they fought the ancients kept people at bay. That allowed me to keep my early game resource advantage and keep a leg up on the arms race that lasted all game long.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.
