Besides, wouldn't doing another Explore have bankrupted me out of the game?

It would have put me at -10, and I didn't have any other hexes that I could bankrupt.

Hell if I know. Wouldn't be my problem. But if you were to reopen turn 1, then my pass would be invalid and I could do another explore.

It's because I wanted to get to an actual computer in order to study all the boards before making my move I'm taking the novel approach of actually planning moves in advance instead of just winging it. At least for a couple of rounds anyway.
