Well the Terran get the extra Reputation slot and extra move and better conversion rate. And Magellan get extra points for discovery tiles and have the convert colony ships to resources ability so not sure what you are talking about by no additional bonuses comment.

I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Gnaw, It's actually a very acceptable practice to pick something that someone else wants. Get in people's heads and it messes with their games. Especially if they are really wanting that race. Get them off to a wrong foot from the get go can help you get a bit of an edge. Don't apologize for doing it, embrace it. Sometimes it can be fun to be the villain.

Oh I realize all that. The problem is that my choice was a sheer reactionary "oh shit, well I'd better hem her in" instead of a thought out plan.

That's too Funny. Well when you picked Planta I was super tempted to grab the Orion to crush you early and often but opted to stick with my plan of playing something I hadn't had a chance to yet. That and the Machines have been my bane most games I've played so I either wanted to take them out of the pool or try them myself. Glad I stuck to my guns.
