They started their inquiries in the known assassin’s inns. Trake’s breath was the only place they avoided at the moment. The Turoki might have a man there looking for Jeras atleast. The shield inn was empty except for some merchant who wasn’t there at the moment. The merchant looked like a mage or so said the man behind the counter. And the Prophet’s rose didn’t have rooms. They still went there to ask some questions. As always Samas didn’t know anything or atleast didn’t tell them. Under funded as they were they couldn’t pay him enough.
Taking a break the wizard Mechail came in and sat down after ordering a pitcher.
“Found out anything†He asked.
“That lame money hungry snake behind the counter won’t tell us anything and the shield is empty except for a mage who says he’s a merchant.†Jeras answered the mage while his partner remained silent still muttering at the lack of success.
“It’s like that these days.†Mechail said looking around at Samas. “I’ll talk to him later than see if he’ll answer to me. I found a trace of magic in an ally close to the gate. There was a long metal box there oozing Meneas and something older, foul smelling.â€Â
The mage looked like he didn’t like what he had found.
“There were some clothes lying there aswell, but I don’t think he went away naked. Looking at the size he isn’t tall.â€Â
“Hood’s balls big help you are. Are we supposed to look at every small man in town now.†Harp said fixing his eyes at Mechail who wasn’t accustomed to being spoken to in that way. Eyes hardening he replied. “That’s the way thing are Harp. You better watch your mouth when speaking to me.â€Â
“Easy boys don’t get your balls in a noose. Mechail as to my encounter with the Turoki I don’t think it’s a good plan for me to go the Trake’s so Harp’s going there and I’m going to look around the marketplace near the ally you found that stuff to see if I can find out anything.†Jeras said trying to keep the peace ‘These guys are going to get us a lot of attention this way.’ Looking around no one was paying attention to them.
Tension eased a little as the two other men looked at each other across the table.
The market was quiet. After the siege there was a lack of everything. But merchants where returning and there were some people looking for a bargain. The ally’s to the side of the marketplace were a seeing a lot more traffic. Jeras started looking around the market first. Walking thru there he tried to pick up the sent of shadow magic in the air. He’d been around magic enough to sense its presence especially Meneas. Beru fend I’m looking for a needle in a haystack. How am I ever going to find one man in this city if he doesn’t want to be found. I’d need Oponn’s luck He thought walking down one of the main roads on one of the sides of the market. As usual he walked in the shadow when he caught the feel of magic and eerie sense down his spine and started following it. After a while it while it went up a building. Following the trail up to the roof Jeras saw a man with a big sword on his back covered in a strange animalskin sitting at the edge of the roof looking out over the city. Is this the guy were looking for. Looks like he’s gonna snap in two under the wait of his sword. Well I might just as well see what he has to say.
The moment Jeras was going to say something the man turned around and looked at him.
“I sensed you following me and I don’t want a bloodbath, jet.â€Â
“What’s your name and what are you doing here then.†Jeras asked.
The man with the big sword looked at him with a cold stare.

As Lord Gordonis waslks through the door to Trakes.
God the stench of this place this place needs a bloody clean up. Hopefully the beers better laughs to himself.
Asks the barman for some ale. and goes and sits at the nearest table that he can find.
Drinks some of the ale, and spits right back,
*god man what do you think this is, this is not ale this tastes like water, i want my money or i will do something very bad to this place*

After the man disappeared he grinned. ‘So he thinks he’s pretty tough eh. Well I got his sent now. Better not underestimate him that big sword didn’t seem to bother him much.’
Walking to the edge of the roof he looked out over the city like the stranger had been doing. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary. His hand gripping a necklace under his shirt. He took it out and looked at the diamond. A gift of Rath’Shadowtrone for a job he had done a couple of years ago. The diamond looked like it had smoke in its centre. ‘Throw on the floor and run'he had said ‘This diamond is one of Shadowtrone’s own.’
So the hunt started again. ‘But next time you wont get away this easy’ Jeras thought.

As Saul sat down in the same corner where Lord Gordonis sat before.
"Here you go sir, fine ale" says Lord Gordonis
After a couple of minutes of silence Lord Gordonis interupts the silence.
"I'm forsaking the guild so if you wouldn't mind i will leave in peace, hope we never met again. Oh yeah if you want seek me out you know where to go"
Then gets up and walks out off the inn.

Saul sat and stared at the wall, his mouth hanging open and his ale getting warm. That little bastard! All was lost! He lifted the tankard to his lips and took a drink, only to have a folded piece of parchement nudge against his mouth. Frowning, he pulled it out, unfolded it and read the message written on it. A slow smile formed on his stubble-covered, scar-crossed face. Things had just gotten very interesting. He relaxed into his chair and drank deep

He stood up and looked the man up and down judging him.He decided he wasn't worth the trouble of blood spilt and drew the massive sword as if it were nothing."My name is of no consequence to you" He whirled the blade in a circle in front of him and opened his warren. When the dust had settled he was gone and the man was alone on the deserted rooftop.

She was finally leaving. There was nothing in this city for her. She strode down the alleyway carrying all she owned on her back. The hair on her arms stood up as she turned a corner.
"Oh, Hood..."

Seevo awoke with a start. How long had he been asleep, he guessed all night, man alive had he needed it too. He sat up and noticed Crai still at his desk, scribing away. Well better to leave him to it. He wondered how long Rane was going to be. If he had gone already or even where he had gone and what the highers wanted with him. It mattered not to him. The thought occurred to him that he should check up on Tani, with no fresh orders he was free to do as he chose till further notice.
Leaving via the front exit he noticed the two undercover watchmen looking rather worse for wear. “Well, well up to no good again? Sewer rats getting too tough eh?†without waiting for the reply Seevo rounded the bend and was off to his last post.
As he got closer to the house he noticed it’s rather new look. Flamed and charred. “Ahhhhh Dessembrae fend see what happens when you put a new recruit on the job. It always happens like this.†Throwing caution to the wind he burst through the door and saw the remains of what looked like a young lady. Tani? No it couldn’t be she looked to slight of build and where were her weapons they wouldn’t have burned in the conflagaration. A set up perhaps? But why and by whom? Whatever it needed to be reported and also Where was Tani now and why had she reported it? . . . A stray thought ran through his mind. There always was something not quite. . . five by five with her. . . a renegade trained Turoki, Crai should have seen it I should have! As he left in earnest he almost missed the clips on the floor. Kneeling he picked up two small clips, pocketed them quickly and made swift his exit. This time he used the rooftops. If he was swift he could make it back to Crai before daybreak. Guilds. . . you can’t live with em. . . can’t live without em. . .

“Who are they and why are we watching them.â€Â
“The one with the uniform has just entered the city. The other has been here from just after the siege. He’s part of a new guild and we don’t know what there up to jet.â€Â
“Do you know what that uniform means?â€Â
“No that’s one of the tings I’m here to find out. The other guy is a bonus.â€Â
Jeras looked there way. Red and green he had heard about it.
“Don’t know if you’ll like what I heard ‘bout him in Darujhistan. I went to see Derduran the witch and she told me about an incident with a man wearing a uniform like that. It wasn’t a nice tale to hear. He killed almost everyone he came into contact with.â€Â
“Hood’s balls there leaving already. You follow them on the street and I’ll follow on the rooftops.â€Â
They waited until the two men stood up and watched them leave catching the last look of the assassin. Looks like he found us interesting Jeras thought.
“Better watch out I think he made us out.†He said to Harp. “I saw, but I’ll be watching you’re back.†He said as he walked to the back door. “Don’t do nothing stupid.â€Â
Jeras rose out of his seat and donned his cloak. He hoped he could stay unnoticed cuz he didn’t want trouble with the soldier after the tales he had heard about him. Walking out into the street he tried to stay in the shadows. The city had changed a lot since he had last followed someone in it.

Taigh sat among ranks of the asristocracy at the Rebma Auction House, a slip of parchment clasped in his hands. His pure white hair was tied in a knot at the knape of his neck. On the note, in beautiful calligraphy, was printed:
"Rebma Auction House. Tonight. Lot 13. Bring money"
Taigh supposed the man he was trying to contact was among the crowds, most likely watching him. Quality services were hard to come by in this city if you don't want to work through the guilds, however one man was famous, and it was his services that Taigh required. It went against his nature to trust a job to someone else, but he was going to have to. The usual methods had failed to contact this man, but when Taigh had almost given up, he had been approached. The note was left on his pillow, a disturbing thought.
Taigh sat straighter in his seat as lot 13 was displayed. The piece was a finely crafted jewellery box, typical of Capustan art. A quick glance about the room ascertained that there was little interest in the piece. Not caring for a long bidding session, Taigh opened well above the what the box was worth. Sure enough, no one in the room seemed inclined to oppose his bid.
Taking the box in both hands, Taigh left the room quickly and headed straight back to his modest house. Carefully he opened the jewellery box. Inside was another leaf of parchment. On it was a short message:
Describe the details of the assignment on this papaer. Tomorrow denote this box to the temple of Oponn on Foundary Lane. Expect completion within forty eight bells. Payment will be arranged after the job is done.
Taigh cuckled to himself. Though he'd never met this man he was beginning to like him. He was careful, and he had style. Still cuckling, he scrawled down what he wished done.

After glaring at the man who had just fallen from above she turned to the merchant and said, "It just so happens that I am without a job. I accept your offer." She brushed the mud from her face and waited for a response.

OOC : sorry for leaving it so late ppeps... hope no one objects to me joining the fun, 1st timer to rpg so bear with me
IC: Tenar was tired. looking down at his bleeding hands he thought of the scars. Why was he even alive?
The sudden impact of a well aimed blow to the head was a rude return to the real world.. blood flowing freely through the pulp of his ruined nose..
"You broke my damn nose!"
Ricco looked at Tenar in surprise
"Didn't think there was anything left to bust up in all that mess.. You want to call it a day?"
"Yeah.. i cant seem to concentrate on sparring at the moment.."
Ricco nodded, raising out of the crouching stance he had begun to adopt in his training sessions.. only to land on his back as Tenar kicked his legs from under him..
groaning, Ricco picked himself up..
"I know, I know.... "Never let your guard down!""
Tenar chuckled to himself
"Exactly"
Walking back to the inn he was currently holed up in Tenar thought about the events of the day, the contract for training the city`s guards in hand to hand fighting had been rediculously hard to come by, and he had persuaded more than one of the competition to withdraw from the contest..
"Hard to sign a contract with ten broken fingers" He chuckled to himself..
He would have to keep an eye on Ricco though.. His father had been one of the first he had talked out of trying for the contract.. and the boy was good..

Saul watched as a man dressed in some sort of unknown military uniform dragged someone looking very much like an assassin out of an alley. Curiosity piqued he edged around the corner and saw a familiar face creased in pain.
"Tenar you old bastard." he breathed.
He entered the alley cautiosly. He noted the knife wound in Tenar's side and almost began tearing strips from his robe. Seeing its threadbare aperence, he thought better of it and reached for Tenar's jacket. The wounded man hissed "Piss off!" and staggered backwards.
"So much for gratitude."

Rane walked up to the gates of yet another anonymous city. He'd lost count of the number of times he'd been in this kind of position. As before, trader wagons were trundling in and out of the main gates, though this time the background was full of rubble and refuse. Mementos of the Malazan army that had liberated the city, he had been told. For once quite different to last time he'd approached a Malazan-connected city. Then it had been pritine. Though there was one difference - the Malazans had never conquered Darujhistan.
As he got closer he saw that the devastation was mostly repaired, unlike how it looked from afar. There was still rubble strewn across the ground in front of the city, but the walls themselves were mostly rebuilt, and when he entered the city itself, he could see that the camps were too. The edifice of the Palace towered above the city, dark and imposing, the only feature on the horizon.
He turned towards the nearest camp, looking for an inn.

Taking out his pipe he stuffed it with some leaves for Elingarth. Again looking out at the city he thought about how everything had changed since he left. It used to be a quit place for the guilds. But since the Malazens had come it had al changed. They didn’t want any competition when it came to assassins. Sitting there above the city Jeras enjoyed his rest smoking his pipe. He wondered when the real occupational army would return, if it would return at all. Then an explosion in the old noble’s district shook him out of his daydreams. Turning his head he smelled the sorceries that had done this. Smells like that guy with the sword. Putting his pipe away he jumped to the next roof and started running in the direction of the explosion.
Jumping from roof to roof he found an ally where he could go down. Jumping down he grabbed the lines between the buildings to soften his fall from the two stories high building. Coming down wrapped in the clothes that had hung on those lines he just missed the man standing there. Landing in a puddle of mud which splattered across the two people standing there Jeras threw away the clothes. Apologizing to the merchant who stood there and the woman he was talking to Jeras turned to walk away.
