I've not read it but he's got too much experience behind him for him to mess this up. Storm Front wasn't the most gripping start to a series but that took us to some great places 😃
Apt is the only one who reads this. Apt is nice.

Also not read it, but just chiming in to say the first Alera novel was cheesy fantasy of the highest degree, and it turned out okay.

I have a little faith that JB will come good.

I don't like to admit this but I been struggling since about ch 12. I'm on 20 now. I really hope this feeling goes away soon and the epicness of Ch 1 returns.

Oh come on, thats barely into the story. Things change and change a lot.

I quite enjoy Rowls pov.

I can't quite grasp Cat though. Is it a telepathy thing or are cats and humans just meowing at each other? It's giving me a fit to picture it so I'm just defaulting to reading it as telepathy.

I don't think its telepathy. Its more like a different language

I hope so.

"Meow"

"Meeeow"

"Meoow meow meeeeow meoooow"

Cringe worthy! Glad the book is picking up now though! I think I'm on ch50 on pg 400 something

The trick with this book is understanding that what seems familiar may not necessarily be so. Note the rarity and value of wood, cats which are clearly more than just cats, spire residents who are unfamiliar with the sun etc

If you just imagine Rowl with Sylvestre Stallone voice/speech it makes sense. Only a few people actually know what hes saying,
