I sign in shops in Bristol and Bath fairly often.

And Forbidden Planet should still have a bunch of my books signed.

So I um....won a giveaway.

Mark was doing a giveaway on social media for this swanky "locked tomb" edition of THE BOOK THAT WOULD NOT BURN, and I entered (not dreaming I would ever win) and woke up this morning to a notification and a PM from Mark that I'd won. Which is insane and I was crazy happy and felt super lucky.

And do you want to know what the first thing I thought of was?

...Macros is going to be SO jealous and he's going curse Canadian luck again, and then plan a drunken excursion to my house to heist it from me...

So I have returned to you now, at the turn of the tide...to make Macros jealous.

--------

On a serious note, thanks again Mark (whenever you visit us next), it's going to be a display item on my shelf for sure.

I'll post pics of my entire Lawrence collection on my shelf at the new house when said swanky edition arrives.

As far as reasons to return after a long absence, annoying Macros is definitely one of the better ones!

It has not, but we are having a post strike in Canada just now, so maybe stuck in a warehouse.

I expect them to be legislated back to work this coming week, so hopefully soon.

I promise to post pics when it arrives!

Abyss might be salty about the time he won a contest from Mark, then ghosted, so I won instead.

But I think Mark actually sent him something anyway.

I need to post a pic of Marks signature from mine, it’s pretty funny.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Hello all - I'm a heathen, I haven't read any Mark Lawrence.

Mr NAB got a recommendation for The Broken Empire when looking for things similar to Joe Abercrombie - do you think that's a good match?

I'd say Yes. They're not the same flavor but they're very complementary ones.

I'd add that if Mr NAB doesn't like the first book they pick up to try to hop to a different series by Mr Lawrence. While there's a lot of connections between the series, they all stand on their own and have their unique flavors.

I think TRB would really appreciate the One Word Kill series, but JPK is correct they all stand on their own, and all are great.

There's a good chance you're right about One Word Kill but that one's the one furthest from Lawrence's usual tone and likely the furthest from being Abercrombie adjacent.

Give him Prince of Thorns, if he likes Abercrombie, he should be good with Jorg
