Actually, in order to make this work I think you'd need a pretty clear definition of what constitutes spam. The basic premise of mafia is that you're in a life or Death situation, true. However that does not preclude the participants from discussing issues not directly tied to that situation. As long as posting is done in character I see no reason why talk with no content is bad. If anything it'd be the natural reaction for many in that kind of scenario.
