I'm doing Nobbs first, btw, there are a few that are not done by him but he dominates my selection. Without further ado, Rumjugs and Sweetlard, which is fun in terms of quote selection as well:

Dolmen's 'War Council' - not sure how I'mma wrap my head around this one in terms of quotes but I like the image - note that it may be that this is not what was posted as the final product, it's just the one I liked the most:

Maybe Karsa, I dunno, but I like it as a generic Barghast or something:

and now, for your viewing pleasure, this excellent depiction of Anomander Rake's visit to Seguleh Isle, with some scrawl on it that I need removed - still waiting for help on this:

There's a few others I'm thinking about, but I think these are the contenders and IIRC, there's a limit to the amount of images we can add so...

Also, I like this one of Tavore, not sure who the artist is so would need to secure their permission, Nobbs helpfully removed some of the text but I'm interested to know if the colours can be changed:

Speaking of artists that we need to secure permission from before posting their art, this Komarck NEEDS to go on the homepage and there's dozens of quotes that would go wonderfully with it and I think we already have permission if I'm reading the relevant thread correctly?

And finally, I'm not sure if it's worth the effort, but I'm willing to reach out to the necessary people to include this image of what I take to be a washed-up Stormrider by Donato Giancola - I don't even mind that it's meant to be a mermaid and neither should you:

Also we should look into getting permission from the other artists that have done 'official' Malazan work, for PS Publishing and Subterranean Press specifically.

For me, what sets us apart as a fan community apart from the community itself, which is what it is and I don't always mesh well with that, is the fan-created artwork. In my mind, it's far, far better than any other similar community out there and we should display it and make all those others jealous :)

As far as images that could be removed from the rotation if and when we reach the limit (and I'd appreciate some feedback on this, btw), I've come up with the following after a less-than-thorough evaluation:

some of the cover art could go, certainly HoC, and BH, we've all seen the covers and have them easy to hand - we should show something you can't easily find, imo (Komarck's Anomander and perhaps a few others notwithstanding)

the Hannan Mosag one is not great, the 'Killers await' one can go and that is about as far as I can comfortably go on my own. But I'm heavily prejudiced on this subject and ultimately, a forum should serve the membership, pure and simple, so speak up!

Gonna agree that if anything needs to go, book covers should be first on the chopping block.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Is there a limit on the rotation? If so, it's not that hard to come up with an alternative rotation script that does not have a built-in limit. Basically the only thing is has to do is sort the images and randomly select a starting place. The only limit you have to do deal with then is hosting space.

A thing that could be considered is bandwidth usage. Most of the pictures you've posted would be fine, as their size is somewhere around 120kb, but, for instance, that Tavore one is over 500kb. I would not consider that to be user friendly, especially for mobile user that might land on the homepage. I think that in most instances, the art will look fine with a slightly lower resolution and canvas size to reduce the overall size of the landing page. (I recon this will soon become a non-issue with increasing bandwidth and usage limits. However, if you want to reach a global public, then you should keep in mind that, in some places, bandwidth is more limited than in other places.)
'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.'

'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master — that's all.'

I'm pretty sure there was a limit when I was actively adding images to it.

Also, the images are resized as part of the process which should bring them into reasonable file-size territory. I don't anticipate any problems there.
