With the spring came the mercenary markets. The first to travel were the Kantonians, the hardy mountain folk who fought as pikemen, renting themselves out by region. Most Kantons were represented, but there was not a single man from the Sixteenth, Eighteenth and Twentieth. Other bands, like the Saexon Longbows and Utmar Finnson's Vennings, were also conspicuous in their absence.

With fewer soldiers available than expected, many lords were forced to conscript peasants. Riots and uprisings started in some regions; the peasantry would gladly pay extra tax for the privilege of not being called upon in times of war. Now, they had paid the Mercenary's Mark, as the tax was known, and were still called upon. Not all accepted this, but after years of prosperity, only the weakest lords didn't manage to negotiate an outcome that suited both sides.

---------------------------<rule blurb about future games by way of a spoiler>-----------------

Noblesse will feature three income types (instead of the bazillion resources of ToD): Gold, Influence and Manpower. With Gold, one can hire mercenaries, a type of Retainer that once of the market, remains of the market. Players starved for income can also recruit their own soldiers, through manpower. Influence is used to power night and day actions and create off-thread communications.

No-one died. It is now day 2.

14 are alive.

15 are alive

8 to lynch, 7 for night.

Hmm, 15 started with what, five, maybe six, factions...yeah, I'm thinking uneven faction numbers.

Throw those probabilities out the window :p

Although I guess 3 people per faction is a possibility.

No, it's not and I agree, there's no reason to assume that.

Mod-Notes regarding the game:

All the usual rules in the boilerplate apply.
Please be nice and civil to one another, there's non-veteran people playing.

Days are 32 hours, night as instant as I can make it.

Standard role PM:

Quote

Marcese Ottone di Villanova

You are Marcese Ottone di Villanova, a noble of the Noblesse peninsula. Villanova is a plucky little town roughly half a day removed from the ancient former capital of Noblesse, Gaiia. It is where many of the city's merchants, officials and bishops have second homes, removed from the hustle and bustle of the Eternal City. They come to Villanova for entertainment and relaxation, and as a result, even though you are the hereditary lord of the town, your subjects often outrank you. You deal with it by keeping a low profile, but you have a great many friends in high places, even though many of them are enemies of one another. it makes you a perfect dealbroker, and the house of Villanova prospers as a result

You are a member of the independent nobility. You win when all members of all other factions are dead.
You have no abilities.

You will coroner-find as Marcese Ottone di Villanova, a proud Noblesse noble.

The text in blue is all fluff about the role.

You can reveal whatever you want. You are encouraged to lie. To help you with that: Noblesse is a faux Italian Renaissance setting. If you need to blend in, make sure your role PM contains (fake) Italian names.

The victory condition for every faction is to be the last faction standing.
Good luck.

Undelined may highlight why the asumption has been made.

I have, but not on the premise of uneven factions, as that doesn't change anything to the principle.

This has been kind of nagging at me. Lock comes on and say he is here and he is reading up. But he quotes my post from a ways back. Okay maybe he started with the last page. (my post was near the top) plausible, But if so, why then start asking Tapper to be nice and not Modkill him? If He read the last page He would know He wasn't in any danger of that happening.

I'm really really really sorry folks! I was home sick yesterday and completely forgot that this game was even running! I'm here now, and reading up, hopefully Tapper, in all his benevolent glory, will see fit not to modkill me!

View PostLock, on 11 September 2014 - 02:25 PM, said:

We've still got like an hour left right? I still have time to read up before I drop a vote?

View PostLock, on 11 September 2014 - 02:47 PM, said:

I'm most of the way through page 2 of the thread (sorry, had to deal with some work stuff before I could really dig in)...

So far, Gait has rubbed me the wrong way with posts like this:

View PostGait, on 10 September 2014 - 02:39 PM, said:

Faction game folks. I'm more opt to not lynch anyone Day one until I get a better feel for a few things. Like for one how many flipping factions are in this game? Are there two relatively large factions? Two large weak NA and one small strong NA? Are there 5 3 person teams, 3 5 person teams? See where I'm getting at?

It just screams "I have NAs and it's better for me if you don't lynch in case you lynch a team mate so I can use my NAs."

So far, my vote will likely go here, but given he's getting close to lynch already, I'll hold off until I've read the rest of the thread.

Another thing that's stood out to me is a few people saying that the OP says there are almost no roles. I don't know if I'm just having a big reading fail, but I don't see anything that says that in the OP. Can someone clarify that for me?

Then He starts in with this about a few people saying there are no roles, and that he can't find where that is stated in the OP.

View PostLock, on 11 September 2014 - 03:04 PM, said:

Well, just to be certain...

vote Gait

But I'd still like to know why everyone thinks the OP says that there will be hardly any roles this game? Is my reading comprehension really that reprehensible?

And then it's on to why does everyone think there are no roles. I don't think anyone but Gait said anything about there being hardly any roles.

It just feels like He is fishing for roled targets.
