Heard about this yesterday. Thought the guy deserved a thread.

He's most known for his role as John Hammond in Jurassic Park but he also directed Ghandi and Chaplin.

For some reason I never made the connection that he was the brother of David Attenborough.

Also apparently he was married for almost 70 years to the same wife. That in and of itself is something pretty rare.

I never made that connection either, what a talented family! Being married to the same wife for 70 years give or take is definitely a thread worthy cause by itself. Its sad that as these people are lost, the world is a slightly darker place.

Really sad. He was a brilliant actor. Glad his little brother is still around to dazzle us, but Richard will be missed.

Sad, yes, but really not that unexpected due to his advanced age. I certainly liked the man and I'll admit to actually checking to see if he was actually still alive a couple of weeks ago. And then this. Fuck!

But he was old, very old and has, hopefully, lived a good and full life. Being married to the same woman for 70 years would indicate that he has.

I agree with TTT, all of my heroes seem to be dying these past few years, this makes me sad and yes, the world a darker place. Though I would also say that it leaves the rest of us with the responsibility to lighten it a bit up.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Apt, it's "Gandhi", darn it.

The difference matters because the way one says the "G" and "D" sounds is different for "Ga"/"Gha" and "Dhi"/"Di". It's like mangling "Erikson" as "Ercsen".

Condolences to the Attenboroughs, their friends and families and those affected by his passing.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
