Just watched this. WTF. My wife did it and donated as well, as her grandmother died of ALS, so she knows firsthand what it can do.
I like the sentiment of getting behind it in a way that spreads virally (as much as it sucks that this is what needs to happen for a charity to get a decent slew of funds), and just like all things, there are people trying to one up each other and be stupid.
Hope enough people are smart enough to do it in a moderate way. A bucket or water, some ice. and spotters standing by to help. But most of all, the donation is the most important bit.
