Hello Everyone. I have taken an interest in trying to collect the limited edition Malazan books. I have done some research, but would like some advice from the more experienced book collectors. I am looking for the UK limited edition signed copies. I think the UK jackets just look much better!.

Gardens of the moon, Limited Edition signed - This book seems nearly impossible to find. If i were to find it what do you think a fair price is? Any ideas where to look?

Deadhouse Gates - Ive found a lettered copy listed for $1700 & limited signed UK for $450?

Memories of Ice. Is around $600 for the UK limited

House of Chains. I cant find a UK only the US versionand its $90. Is there a UK version?

Midnight Tides I cant find a UK only the US version and its $90. Is there a UK version?

The Bonehunters I cant find a UK version only US and its $100. Is there a UK version?

Reapers Gale US 1st ed is $70 same as UK version

Toll the Hounds is $100 for the UK limited

Dust of Dreams is $100 for the UK limited. Dust of Dreams jacket seem to be the same UK or US are they the same?

The crippled god is $100, The jacket seem to be the same UK or US are they the same? Was there only one version?

Also do you think collecting theKharkanas trilogy is worth it? I havent read them but heard good things. I thank anyone who responds for the help.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by limited edition UK copies but I'll do my best to help out.

The UK publisher of the malazan series in Bantam. There is no complete set of hardcovers, the only set with matching covers is the paperbacks and even then only the Canadian editions of 8,9 and 10 retain the smaller format. Bantam did not produce hardcovers for Gardens of the Moon, Deadhouse Gates or Memories of Ice, just trade sized paperbacks. However, on the 10th anniversary of Gardens of The Moon they released a hardcover copy using a modified version of the most recent paperback artwork (the tower with the moon in the background, blueish colored). While there were hardcovers produced for House of Chains, Midnight Tides and The Bonehunters there were not many compared to Reapers Gale onward and as mentioned do not match.

Tor is the American publisher, they are currently the only publisher to release all the books in hardcover. This set does not match either as Tor changed to using the UK covers for Dust of Dreams and The Crippled God. The Tor mass market paperbacks all match and now use the UK cover art by Steve Stone

The most expensive editions are the Subterranean Press editions. They are all signed and have a number of illustrations, the lettered edition is limited to 25 I think and the limited edition to 500. These are far more expensive than the normal hardcovers, that will be why the prices you have there for Gardens of The Moon, Deadhouse Gates and Memories of Ice are so much more than the others. Only the first three books have been released so far with the fourth coming soon but is already sold out on the website. These are not a UK or US edition, they are in a category of their own.

As it stands there is no complete matching set of hardcovers for the series, maybe they'll release a set further down the line. The Subterranean Press set will probably be finished in about a decade and will be the only matching set and likely cost thousands (literally).

I can't comment on whether the prices you've looked at are fair. I've only got the Bantam paperback set, the first 6 in Bantam trade paperback and the 10th anniversary edition of Gardens of The Moon which I got for £1.50. Though from looking on amazon.com you can get most of the hardcovers in (Very Good) condition for a few dollars each and could probably get a full set of Tor hardcovers for about 50-70$, so spending over a thousand dollars (by your prices) for a mismatched set that will contain different covers, different sizes of book etc wouldn't make much sense.

I'de go with a Tor hardcover set, it's the only complete set available, though spending an upwards of a thousand dollars for having a few scribbles on the front pages when you could have the whole set for less than the price of one of those seems silly.

The first book in the Kharkanas Trilogy, Forge of Darkness is still available in Bantam UK and Tor US editions. There is also a PS publishing limited edition of it (similar to Subterranean Press editions of the others books) but it's probably sold out.

If you look in the "Show of your Malazan Collection!" thread you can have a look at pictures people have posted of the various edition.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. This helped out immensely. The Subterranean Press editions is what I meant for UK editions

I was wondering why I couldn't find any of the Subterranean Press editions after Memories of Ice:). Now I know.

I want to get the Subterranean Press editions. I have Deadhouse Gates and Memories of Ice but so far no luck with Gardens of the Moon. I have a feeling that will be tough to come by.
