Is someone able to clean out all the spambot members? What about those who logged on years ago, posted once or twice then none since?

Could we come up with some criteria for the cull? Maybe less than 5 posts and/or not logged on in X months or years (for starters)?

It's just that the member list is crazy-bloated and I'm sure the memory can be better employed doing anything else. Or do we have such massive amounts of space that it doesn't matter?

Just seems ... untidy ... to me.

Oh, would it be a manual thing for someone to waste hours on (in which case don't bother), or could someone set up some parameters and press "go"?

Spam users are kept since removing them would effectively unban their email addresses. As for members who have been inactive for a very long time, I don't think it's conventional to delete user accounts on communities. Also, when you do so on IP.Board, their posts become orphaned.

That aside, yeah, it's not difficult. It would only take one mildly complicated SQL query, and it could be set up to run on a monthly basis.

In terms of server resources, it doesn't matter. There's no extra drain on the server because of the members table. MzE's database is comparatively tiny, if you can believe it. MySQL is made to handle several hundred million rows and it even functions well once you pass the billion mark.

Couldn't we just switch the forum off, then on again?

Aren't you supposed to be hunting in Michigan or something?

Went up to Lake Lawn Lodge in WI on Lake Delevan. Shitty WI and zero reception... It was very nice. Except for the part where my son slept on me rather then in the middle of the bed.
