IMO first focus on your offense, get your camps maxed and your troops and spells upgraded. Start with the troops you use and donate the most. With defenses, start with the splash damage. Mortars go first, then wiz towers, then however you feel like doing it. Air defense is important since as a th7 you can be attacked by th9s, and they have the new air troop.

So stoked. Get to participate in my first war. Was a spectator the last one. And as #10 I know I'll wipe the floor with their # 10 and have a shot at hitting their #8 for 2 stars at least. I have my war base up for my clan mates to take a look at. Basically just did a box in a box formation with TH in the center. Wizard tower and mortar north and South of TH and 2 cannons and archer on West side and two are archers and a cannon on the East. All outer walls are lvl 5 but had to use my lvl 4 walls for inside. Then I surrounded all the outer walls with all my other stuff. Not sure how effectiveit will be but know I'm not likely to get 3 stared by their lower level folks.

Coming up to 20th DE now. Should I use it for l2 hog riders or wait a bit longer to get l6 Barb King or wait a fair bit longer to get l3 Archer Queen? Don't use hogs that much but might do if they were a bit stronger...

The lv 6 bump for BK isn't that huge but it is just another step toward lv 10 and the next boost. Personally I would go for that, but RYL is the one to ask as he has been playing the longest I think.

Well update on my first war experience. I did really well on my first attack. I 3 starred the same level guy as me. I thought I would at least one star the other guy I was attacking but messed up my attack and had my wallbreakers timed wrong so didn't blow a hole for my giants as I should. I also didn't utilize my lightning spell very well. I should have drawn out the clan castle troops and then attacked on the other side of the town and then dropped the lighting spell over the defenses and the clan troops as they came to attack my assault. Very disappointing. We ended up winning the war but mainly because the participation on the other team was horrible. Only 4 people actually used their attacks. Our side was a bit higher but only just.

THe thing about upgrading heroes is that you should do it in blocks of 5 to take maximum advantage of the abilities. I got them both to 10, then the bk to 15, then the queen is on her way to 15. If your king is at 5 already and the queen is at 3, the next step is getting your queen to 5. Then get your king all of the way to 10, then the queen to 10.

I always do the king first. That way he is strong enough to take away the sting of having your queen upgrading. It is amazing how much of a difference she makes.

So as a TH7, is there anything I can do to protect from another TH7 using 9 (or 10 if they have a donation) dragon attack? I've yet to have it fail for me in war against another TH7, and have yet to be able to stop it myself, especially if the person has a heal or a frenzy...

Thoughts? Suggestions?

It is my understanding that no. Even if you have your Air defenses maxed out. There isn't going to be anything you can do if the opposing player has 10 dragons and a rage and heal spell. Toast. But at least you are toast knowning that they had to spend 270,000 Elixar (300,000 if you count the donated dragon) in order to take you out.


That is the reason that people at higher levels use lv 6 ballons. There hit points and attack go way up and they cost a lot less the dragons.

Best you can do is centralize your air defense so they get hit by all of them and can't pick off the air defense one by one.

Well I'm thinking war. And I normally do drop around 5k elixer each war with two attacks of 9 dragons each... guess it's why I'm 3-starring people that much higher people in our clan one star. Bunch a slackers, imo.

I'd swap that mortar and the archer tower. At that level you are going to be going against a ton of Barch (Barbarian/Archer) attacks and you'll want to keep your splash damage as intact as possible. Also, bring your Air defensse closer to the middle. Otherwise anyone with healers will ruin you. Finally, You should move your big bombs towards the resources. Having them up there is just going to get expensive. Every time you get sniped (which is what you want if your TH is exposed), it's going to cost you gold to have to rearm those. If they are moved to help protect your resources they will be cheaper in the long run, and helping to slow down said Barch attacks.

The other thing that having Bombs or tesla's around an exposed TH is that it will piss people off. I know when I have gone to Snipe someone and had a Tesla pop up. Instead of dropping a couple of archers to take out the TH. I Pound the shit out of there defenses and try to do maximum damage.

You'd be surprised. Once your armies start getting stronger and bigger your ability to get more and more resources increases. It's still a challenge, but it is definitely doable. I thought the same way, and am now at TH 10. Just have to keep plugging away. I can't stress enough how important it is to leave your Town Hall exposed. Those free 12 hour shields are wonderful for protecting resources. A single wall segment that costs 3 million gold (and thats not even the max wall!) has me intimidated right now. Putting those off as long as possible.

I think that's where supercell intends to make some money.

That and lvl 40 heroes. 100k DE elixer for the jump from 19->20 and it increases 5k every level thereafter. The final increase from 39->40 is 200K dark elixer. And there are 2 heroes! I gave up on my King for now since he has become relatively worthless after the update. Focusing on Queen first.
