Hey y'all --

Not sure if this is covered in another topic, but did we ever find out why the Segulah 2nd has a vendetta against Skinner?
I doubt it's just because Hood has beef with the Crimson Guard for avoiding Death (for a while at least); Hood himself takes the 2nd off the trail time and time again.

It has yet to be explained and probably never will be.

Most likely, because of some woman.
They were probably best buddies before that.

I've always been confused about the Segulah 2nd, I just started OST and the 2nd is one of the main characters at the beginning so I would assume this is the new 2nd? and the one who is after Skinner has been dead for sometime.

Well he's been dead for at least as long as we've known him, which is long enough. As far as I know he could have been dead 10 seconds and there'd still be a new 2nd just by virtue of there having been a 3rd alive to move up a slot.

Ok, but do they just move up a slot? I feel like we know so little of the Agatii and the ten ruling Eldrii. Man I would give almost anything for a book focused solely on the history of the Seguleh and their role in Genabackis before the migration to the Island.

I don't remember exactly but I don't really wanna get into it cuz you haven't finished OST yet anyway. You might have a better grip on the culture once you're done.

Well, the Second seems to be relatively ancient, perhaps born to the period immediately after the Tyrant and the Seguleh's settlement on the island. He is surprised that the modern Seguleh still keep to the masks and silence thing. And I could be wrong, but the Seguleh (from the Tyrant's era) in the basement of the bar are identified as such by their masks, so that convention dates to at least that far back.

I think that the Undead Second/The Soldier Seguleh is actually referred to as a legend among the Seguleh in OST.

I believe it is the Second who defied the first. Or something like that. The meaning being that the Undead seguleh was once a part of the Seguleh society, he rose to the second highest tier, but in the end he rejected their society. While he obviously has retained some of the beliefs of the Seguleh, he thinks abstractly.

He's more commonly known as the Chatty Seguleh and once he has finished his vengeance quest, a national TV station on Genebackis wants to give him his own talk show with celebrity guests, phone-ins and competitions. Coming this fall.

Apparently he threw down his mask and rejected the seguleh ways saying how they were slaves to their old tradition. Then Jan makes a mark about him trading tradition for true slavery (what I assume would mean a servant of Hood). I'd still like to know what went down btw him and Skinner, just now starting Blood and Bone so hopefully I get to see more of the Disavowed.

Blood and Bone seemed a little boring to me but I'm only halfway through, good luck with it.

I am resurrecting this thread because I could not find a more relevant one...

Just came across this little snippet in "Return if the Crimson Guard" (Book I, Chapter III). A young boy is doing a reading for Ereko. Amongst his rambings is the following:

The Sceptre close to the Knight of Death reversed … Betrayal. By whom? But no, that is the past.

Could this refer to Skinner and the Second Seguleh?

Pretty sure that is referring to betrayal of Dassem, not of the Seguleh second.

As to what the seguleh second has against Skinner, I really do think it has to do with the cheating death thing. Yes, that ought to put him against all Imass and all Crimson Guard, but a couple of thoughts on that. First, I seem to recall other instances of Hood not looking too fondly on those affected by the ritual. Second, whether or not the Seguleh Second has met/encountered Skinner, we know that Dassem fought him as Knight of Death. If Skinner was 'killed' then but preserved by the ritual, that would be a true cheating of death.

Re-read the passage from the bonehunters and the second says something along the lines of "we all hunt" but he was closest. And since he knows nothing of modern Seguleh that implies that it is servants of Hood who are hunting Skinner.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours
