a question on reading order

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site. I learnt of this series over at ASOIAF. I just finished MoI and I'll tell you its one of the best fanatasy books I've ever read.

Just wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions for a reading order for the rest of the series and the novella's. I know that esselmont's books don't follow Erikson's timeline. Should I follow the order in which the books are listed on this forum or is there a better order to read them. Just want to get the best experience as possible. Thanks

Generally, read them in the order of the forums here, with a couple possible kinks:

You can put Night of Knives before The Bonehunters if you want to better understand a cameo in the latter. Otherwise you can get the cameo first and then the "a-ha" moment reading NoK second if you prefer.

You can also read Dust of Dreams and The Crippled God back to back w/ Stonewielder afterward w/ no fuss, but reading SW in between them -- thus publication order -- doesn't hurt (except you might be jonesing so hard for TCG that SW seems like a distraction).

Generally, I think, SW is put after Toll the Hounds and before Dust of Dreams. And then Orb, Sceptre, Throne, and Blood & Bone (and Assail, when it comes out), after The Crippled God (though some of OST and B&B take place during tCG, I think they both finish after it. B&B certainly does. Can't actually remember if that is the case with OST, someone else might have a different/better idea).

In general, you'll never run into trouble if you read SE's books first and only then start on ICE. Not the other way around, however. When in doubt, go SE's book first.

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.

Don't listen to Gothos, he crazy.

You NEED to read Esslemonts Return of the Crimson Guard before you read Eriksons 8th book Toll the Hounds or you will have the death of an important character spoiled and there will be some confusion about another characters motivations and involvement.

Also, I would definitely read Night of Knives before Bonehunters and Forge of Darkness before Blood and Bone because new characters are introduced in NoK and FoD that wont make as much sense in BH or BAB if you haven't read the earlier book.

So Apt, I have OST and BB as my last two on the list. You suggest putting FoD between those two? (My list doesn't include novellas or FoD yet) Reading DoD right now.

Yes. The spoilers are more indirect than direct, in the sense that nothing particularly important about FOD is spoiled by reading BAB, how ever there is a couple of new characters that are introduced in FOD and we get some new lore and world building related stuff that changes a lot about the Malazan universe and subsequently appears in the names dropped and hints hinted at in the Esslemont book.
