Man, that film was epic!
My favourite Marvel film so far and I don't say that lightly, so many genuine laugh out loud moments!
Just wanted someone to hit rewind so that I could sit and watch it again.
You will not be disappointed...

See, I would do this. I really would. But I get the feeling GotG is going to be all the better for having a friend or two to appreciate it with. Of course,

...it *could* turn out to be a film I watch twice at the cinema. But even so, I'd still rather share that "first viewing" with a couple of others on this one. Sometimes I hate being the one who's already seen it while someone else is watching for the first time - I get the feeling this movie will fall into the type that makes me feel that way. XD

I would definitely recommend watching this with others first if that is your thoughts on the matter, after we came out of the cinema we were quoting and talking about scenes in the film for a good while afterwards, laughing away, added to the occasion! Share the love of this film!!!
Interested to see what QT thinks... better than Avengers?! I thought so...

Goddamn that was AMAZING.
Yup, better than AVENGERS. Hell, it's better than a lot of movies. It's got comedy, heart, action, crazy aliens, brilliant backdrops...and Groot.
Loved every last minute of it. Can't wait to go see it again!

I just got back and it was fantastic! And the before-the-credits-scene had me falling out of my chair laughing!

This is the best Marvel movie yet - and James Gunn directed it. That's completely unexpected and probably has something to do with his writing partner, Nicole Perlman.
If this lady gets to write another movie, I'll watch it for sure. It's that good of a script (although I have minor quibbles with some things).

Far better than the avengers. Definitely one of my favourite Marvel films yet, plenty of genuine belly laughs and nkne of the action scenes felt drawn out

Was discussing this today with friends and have decided that it has easily been placed into my top ten movies of all time.
Also, you'll all be happy to know it's made 95 million opening weekend. That is the largest August opening of all time. It's also great news for Disney Marvel who once again dominate the summer with a bone-fide, crowd-pleasing hitsauce of a movie.

Easily the best Space Opera, let along Marvel movie, ever made. I'm biased though, being as I didn't grow up on Star Wars, and even after seeing the originals not understanding the hype, and being a huge fan of the comics.
If I had to pick it apart I'd say the lack of engaging females characters, and villains are faults. But I'll do that later, as I bask in the unlikely glory of my favourite comic run becoming a movie.

Farscape is the best space opera ever made, but this is right after. It beats Star Wars, honestly.
My criticisms mostly lie in the "so most of these aliens look awfully humanoid" and Nebula/Gamora's relationship with Thanos and each other isn't explained much.
Ronan/Lee Pace was quite good.

I enjoyed Ronan as well but it lacks the nuance of the character in the comics and that rubbed me the wrong way simply because it doesn't utilize the source material well enough. Which is basically my same complaint about Gamora (whose arc in the comics is much more redemptive than being the 'voice of reason' or being moral center of the team--that was Adam Warlocks job!) and the lack of any other female Guardian the could have chosen (which the comics had many of, Mantis being the perfect foil to Star-Lord).
Again, that's me nitpicking faults. I highly enjoyed the film.
Can't say much about Farscape, I got through the first season but nothing about it made me want to go on. I'll have to pick up again some day.

You should seek out Dan Abnett's Prelude comic, as it illustrates this part much more than it was in the film.
