Mappo / Icarium Jog my memory

It's been a while since I read TCG and it's probably the book that I remember least well. I've just started on DG again and I'm struggling to recall what the outcome of the Mappo / Icarium arc(s) was.
I can remember bits and pieces and vague scenes from throughout the series but my memory is blank beyond that. Could someone briefly sum up the main parts and revelations of Icarium's storyline for me that I'm probably supposed to be remembering right now?
(I looked about briefly but couldn't see any other relevant threads.)

This is from memory. Sorry if its not 100%.
Spoilered for accidental stumble upon.

Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

Well here's what I know.
In DG they travel through Raraku in search of the Azath. They meet Pust and later Fiddler and co. Later they find the Azath which Icarium was meant to destroy if I am correc.
They fight with the hounds of shadow against a bunch of D'Ivers. When Icarium is threateningly close to a killing frenzy he goes K.O. and is carried into the Azath. Then they
are dropped North of Aren and make a brief encounter in the aftermath of the chain of dogs slaughter (not entirely sure about the last thing).
In HoC they appear briefly, when they meet up with Karsa. Karsa wants to fight Icarium and Mappo K.O's Karsa.
In the Bonehunters they find Serrit (or Sorrit?) the dragon of Serc crucified in a K'Chain mountain. After that they are ambushed by Dejim Nebrahl and Mappo is seriously hurt.
He is healed by Mogora and her spiderritual. Icarium gets a new partner. Taralack Veed. Veed and Icarium meet up with the Edur and are sent to Drift Avalii. Icarium gets enraged
and fightsTrull and Quick. I don't know how he is calmed down, but he is in the end en he goes back to the Edur fleet with Veed. Mappo ends up with Cutter and Spite and travels
to Darujhistan.
In Reapers Gale Icarium is supposed to fight Rhulad, but he leaves that to Karsa. He wanders into the city and sees one of his own devices, which he activates. He disappears
and has created new warrens.
In Toll the hounds Mappo signs up with the Trygalle trade guild and travels with them to the Letheri empire to find Icarium.
DoD: Some people wander through Icarium's new warrens and in the end he arrives at the Che'malle vs Nah'ruk in a skyfortress and seals of the Nah'ruk
Mappo strands some on Letheras and travels on foot. He meets up with Stavi, Stori and Absi.
Finally in TCG Mappo leaves his companions to find Icarium, who is chained to the ground by Calm. Mappo is confused for doing some immoral stuff to get to Icarium. For instance
he lets Olar Ethil take the three little children away. When he finds Icarium he is weakened and is killed by Calm. Then Ublala kills Calm and frees Icarium. Icarium watched Mappo
die, but didn't know who he was. When he sees an old shard of a pot of the first city he destroyed, he gets some sort of memory.
That's all I know without checking the books. I thought this was reasoably accurate and should give you some idea of their storyline

This is sounding familiar now! Thanks for your efforts. .gif)
Something else that I'm not remembering properly, though, is the true relationship between the Nameless Ones, Mappo and Icarium, and the Nameless Ones / Mappo's real purpose and motives.
I'm sort of recalling that Mappo was roped into the role by the Nameless Ones in order to reconcile for doing something quite dodgy that I can't really remember what he actually did. Nor can I remember why the Nameless ones had a guard assigned to Icarium—it was for more than just preventing his rages and memory, wasn't it?
I can actually remember myself reading that very passage where a lot of that got explained...the contents of said passage appears to be eluding me though!

The nameless ones butchered a whole Trell village and put the blame on Icarium so as to con Mapo into the Gaurdian role.
The Nameless ones foolishly consider Icarium to be a weapon that they can control.

I think this is mostly right, but I will suggest a few corrections.
They are not pursuing the Azath. They are just wandering around but seem to be attracted to the path that the rest of soletaken are following. Pust manipulates them into supporting ST's strategy to get rid of several soletaken but they evade ST's fiendish plan of having the Azath consume Icarium.
They actually attack the people and demons protecting the throne of the Imass (not the throne of shadow). The E'resal calms Icarium.
Good stuff.

@Nacht
Thanks for the corrections. I really forgot about the Eres'al being involved on the island.
Your explanation about the nameless ones is also very good

When it comes to the Nameless Ones, it should probably be noted that Calm told Mappo in TCG that they weren't truly interested in Icarium and that the guardians they assigned to him had always been people they wanted to get rid of for political reasons. Of course, this might just have been something she said in order to demoralize Mappo. Picking politically inconvenient people to perform the almost-guaranteed-to-be-fatal task of keeping Icarium under control until the Nameless Ones need him makes a certain amount of sense, but I've got a hard time believing they weren't interested in him in the first place.

Good point. Might have been true in some cases (two birds with one stone kind of thing)
At least in the case of Rhulad, they planned to use Icarium to kill him.

Good replies, thanks. On chapter 2 (only getting to read on the train to and from work) but it's nice to get back to it at last!
