I have started this thread merely to say that I love Rancept and the whole story I have read of him and Ribs so far. He is awesome and the story has been so touching so far. I can't wait to read more of him. Love the explanation of Burn and the Soletaken too which he tells.
As a side note the birth of the Tiste Andii and Tiste Liosan is also really cool! This book is one of my favourites, although I will need to complete a re read to give better judgment to that statement!
Anybody else have favourite sections of FOD?

The s cene that always stands out to me is when Draconus, Arathan, Raskan (I think) and the Borderswords finally get to that Azathanai village with the big TTT statue. THe conversation with Old Man, the Olar Ethil Experience, the way the trip takes a much-foreshadowed turn for the worse, its just so visceral and real. THe reveals from the conversations are also enlightening and mysterious at the same time. A stand-out scene in a book full of them.
I also really liked the defense of House Dracons fromt he Bordersword attack near the end.

Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

This book is singular. The tragedies were epic.
Spite and Envy's "coming of age".
The betrayal of the Hust Legion. From now, only Vengeance burns. Toras Redone, I grieve for you.
The rebirth of T'riss
The pain of Kadaspala.
The laugh of Burn

The book forums have become somewhat quiet lately. I wrote this in a hurry on the MBotF FB page, so forgive me for being terse and perhaps just flat out misinformed. And a little drunk. So this is for some discussion/fun.

Looks like someone's gotten into mom and dad's liquor cabinet while they're away for the holidays.

The scene were Wreneck, the old Tulla hag and the servant girl are attacked by soldiers is a scene that stayed with me for more than a year now. It portraits the helplesness of "normal" civilians in such a situation as well as the monstrous behaviour of the soldiers, that apparently comes to the surface in any war. It is a scene that makes me cold inside with the cruelty that is shown. I love it for that. The same feeling as with the attack on Enesdia
Also the scene with the house guards and borderswords at the end brought me to tears.
