Okay, back to business. So Fanderay. You still have me as your number one scum for today? Looking past me a second who would be your choice as other scum.

Hanas is pissing me off smth fierce right now. Because I can see how him redirecting from me is seen as scummy from a side. Ironically enough, Trake's reasons to vote me make as much sense as me voting you. with the same caveat voiced that despite seeming a good case, it's misguided.

That being said, there's little to no reason for killer to cozy up to me like that, so Hanas could be scum.

At the risk of sounding OMGUS-y, Ghen gave little justification for being vote 3 on you yesterday, and was very happy to jump onto me. if you want scummy lazy-voting, look no further.

fuck, not enough tea this morning apparently. "read: Hanas could be scum, but more likely a symp if anyhting"

I'm trying to get caught up. The thread went from 4 to 10 pages overnight, so I imagine I've got a metric shit tonne of bullshit to wade through...

Wasn't there a game where you could silence people however you wanted? Maybe one of Silencer's CFUM games? This would be a fantastic way to use that power.

OK. So Jalan likes Ghennan and Ultama linked up for the fact of leaving Ghennan-like behaviour out of Ultama's case making.
The problem there Ultama being Ultama. It fits the pattern of an RI trying to get things going and digging himself a hole in the process.

That struck me as firmly tongue in cheek really. Jalan has been coasting. So has Lock for that matter, skirts getting involved.

At least somebody got it...

The point of that post was to show how I felt Ultama was just spinning whatever behaviour he came across to supposedly be an indicator of scum, with no consistency between his four cases of what scum behaviour is to him.

I took bits from each of his four cases that supposedly indicated those four as likely scum and found them all on Ghennan, making Ghennan the ultimate scum by Ultama's logic, yet somehow Ultama failed to notice all the supposed scum behaviour indicators in Ghennan.

Point is I don't believe there was any consistency or accuracy to Ultama's claimed scum behaviour indicators, so the whole thing was ridiculous.

That is two votes for Fanderay. I am going to have a look at him.

I will quote and post below;

Day one, page one Fanderay posts a lot of posts. 7 posts on the first page. Call it what you will but it is basically filler. Fluff.

Day One page 2. He votes for me. This is his last post on day one. He said he was catching up but didn't comment on anything else for the rest of that day. The vote came across, to me, at least as a joke vote. It's not something you are serious on to lynch someone for. What irks me, is he says that he is catching up but then does not return until day 2.

View PostFanderay, on 22 October 2013 - 08:26 PM, said:

just like no one's dumb enough to WIFOM on Day 1?

vote Ultama

catching up

Day 2. Page 4, post 160. He highlights Monok's self vote. That is the first thing he picks up on.

Quote

ok, wtf was this?

Does he mention the no lynch, or little amounts of votes, or anything regarding Togg or even the first part of my analysis on Cast. No. He goes straight to what I said about Monok. That is fairly narrow minded of him.

Quote

so, someone grabbing hteir toys and leaving and obstructing town from lynching in the process is... town?

I don't see the logic. If you're town, you ALWAYS play for the team. Even if though your team is full of retards. Just because you're not being listened to doesn't mean you have the right to fuck up everyone else.

And, realistically, that's what MO's self-vote did. It made sure we won't lynch Day 1.

I really don't see how anyone can look at that and consider it "town play"

I underline this. I know I mentioned that Fanderay didn't vote when he did but I don't think he played for town on day one. He was not part of any discussion on lynches and he did a drive by wifom vote on me and disappeared until day two. That irks me quite a lot. That is not very town like. I am not saying his points are wrong but I am saying he comes across as scummy.

Sticks with his day one vote and votes for me again. The only two players he has mentioned all game so far is Monok for the removal of vote and me. So is this very town like? Are we not meant to be looking for scum. Do we do this by focusing on just one player?

He then paints Monok as the symp and I am the scum. This post goes in his favor because it does make sense.

Quote

just, FYI, at this point you had FOUR votes-Pallid, Me, MO and Ghen

so then Trake bitches about lack of participation and puts a "for now" vote on MO.

MO then does a craptastic emosplosion, self votes and tells us he's fucking off for the night, WHILE EFFECTIVELY SHUTTING DOWN THE ONLY LIKELY TRAIN.

the reason his self-vote is suspicious is fuck is not just because it's a dumbass move, but because it's a dumbass move to justify removing from the only viable train atm. And since it's a self-vote out of the fucking blue, it's designed to have people talk about it, rather than about who he was removing from--which is exactly what you'd have us do.

I dunno if you're scum. you may be getting framed by MO. but MO's play screams symp,, so lynching him I'd expect town CF, which isn't helpful at this stage. coupled with your play on Day 2, it's enough in my mind to warrant voting you.

Now Fanderay is more involved in the game, his activity is once again up to a higher level. He is communicating back and forth with me, replying to Monok and Jalan. This period of day two makes Fanderay look good.

YET

since then what have we had? Two posts from him saying

So when we all need to pull together and figure out who we are going to lynch, he disappears again and doesn't give us his ideas. A pattern has emerged. Be active when it doesn't matter but when it counts disappear.

Vote Fanderay

Or, you know, be more active during work hours in the day, and then not as active after work when I'm at home. But hey, who has the time to look at such silly things as posting times and think about time zones?

You know, I was hoping to be nice today, since unlike yesterday i'm properly caffeinated this morning, but I guess it was too much to hope for....

Shit, someone else mentioned caffeine when checking in this morning. Now they're going to think there is no mystery player and that I'm controlling both Jalan and Fanderay

You know what... let's just vote a coaster. This situation is damned unpleasant, and the mod-kills invite trouble by following too quickly with no info from them. In the current environment I'd rather lynch someone on whom I have absolutely no read whatsoever and who seems to like to keep it that way, despite a decent post count, than lynching someone on who some shades of grey are gathered and who at the least is being discussed.

Vote Jalan.

Just for comparison, here's my posts after Ultama does his quadcase and many people have already discussed it. Just adding my thoughts to the matter so far and reaching my own conclusions:

View PostJalan, on 23 October 2013 - 04:02 PM, said:

Ok serious time. Ultama, your behaviour today is extremely... I don't know. Misguided?

Big cases about post counts and changes in behaviour on DDay, covering the whole of the game up to there? Sure, that's legit.

Doing the same thing on Day 2? Talking about differences in posting frequency between the first half of day 1 and the second half of day 1? That's just stupid. That's a 36 hour period. You can't make reliable patterns out of that.

That's the first problem.

Second problem: you seem to want to make a case on everybody. Why? What purpose does that serve? How does that help town? I repeat: IT IS DAY 2. Trying to go through everybody on day 2 is not only useless because there's too many people and too little information but it clouds the thread with post after post of you grasping at the faintest straws to analyze about people and the vast majority of that grasping is not helpful at all (and fuck these alt names, I'm not signalling Grasp here and I'm not going back to rewrite that sentence just to remove the graspings dammit!)

You want to make a case on Day 2? Go ahead. It's a good thing. But Day 2 is a time to get focused, not to throw shittons of little tidbits into a blender and hope it comes out looking like anything but goopy shit.

The problem is that this is bad play whether you're town or scum pretending to be town. Looks bad on you either way but doesn't convince me you are scum by itself. So now I need to keep reading up and think about why you're doing this as if it isn't just misguided crap townie play which it probably is and see if there's a reason I can see scum doing something stupid like this.

At least this game aint dull!

View PostJalan, on 23 October 2013 - 05:57 PM, said:

The problem I have with Ultama's weird multi-casing is that he doesn't even stick to his supposed 4 suspects. Even after building four cases on people, he still then goes and analyzes and criticizes Fanderay. Then he has other posts pushing the idea of Trake being symp

ie

View PostUltama, on 23 October 2013 - 02:38 PM, said:

So when I come back town, you lynch him and we are two down yeah? Fuck sake. Your a dumb ass. Okay let's roll with that. I had a vote from Pallid and you, Monok follows that vote. That is three votes on me. What does Trake do? Trake votes for Monok!!! Which then Monok responds with a self vote. What??

It fuicking blows your mind. Trake should have voted for me and that would have put me on 4 votes, after that it's easy for anyone to vote, Grasp ended up voting, so that is 5, we may have got to a lynch. Out of Monok and Trake I would put Trake as a symp in comparison. Monok didn't have enough posts to be a symp and would he have removed if Trake didn't vote him??

Generally if you're going to make a case you should stick to it and push it. Leave the analysis of other players outside your case to other players to make cases on.

After all, the case you are pushing is the one you most believe is likely to give us scum right?

Instead here we have Ultama making FOUR cases and he STILL can't stick to them, needs to drag other semi-cases into the mix too!

This doesn't look like town play to me. If anything this looks like symp play throwing tons of crap on thread and trying to make a target out of as many players as possible while still trying to maintain a facade of reasonableness.

It seems a bit premature since Monok was always a good target today and so if Ultama is a symp he didn't really need to do this. But I've seen weirder cases of symps going crazy earlier than they need to so I'm going to keep reading into this and see if it goes anywhere.

Now here's Lock's post reaching the same < I think Ultama is more likely a crazy symp > conclusion as me:

View PostLock, on 23 October 2013 - 09:34 PM, said:

Thinking of Ultama as symp right now, not sure of his boss

And someone* I'm the one coasting in this game???!!!

Togg has been modkilled due to inactivity.

It is Day 2. 4 hours and 55 minutes remaining.

9 players alive: Cast, Fanderay, Ghennan, Grasp, Hanas, Jalan, Lock, Trake, Ultama

5 votes to lynch, 5 votes to go to night.

3 votes Fanderay: Ghennan, Ultama, Grasp
1 vote Ultama: Fanderay

Players not voted: Cast, Hanas, Jalan, Lock, Trake

Color me not surprised.

I doubt I will be surprised when the player name in the CF comes up, either.

With 2 modkills and lots of WIFOM from the MO modkill possibility today, it might be better at this point to not lynch. I'm not sure. I think if we had gotten a lynch day 1 it'd be viable to not do so today, but since we didn't get a lynch day 1 probably not a good idea to skip it twice.

Assuming a successful NK, we'll be 5 down after 2 days instead of the expected 4, but getting info from a real lynch probably outweighs that.

Everyone's being such busy worker bees.

just for the hell of it, here's the most cumulatively scummy player in my books. (after Ultama, but the problem with his case is that it is at least partially grounded in MO, and MO is now a perma-question-mark)

Wow, that post is ringing so many bells for me. The self-pity, the 'acceptance' if we lynch him, the 'lynch me if you have to' schtick. It's making me want to vote for him more.

I'll be around on and off for the next few hours, but I'll vote now to see if we can get something going.

vote ultama

he never came back after that.

So, after a catch-up, I'm not really sure why Jalan stuck in my mind, but on a re-read I don't find him particularly scummy. And Cast has posted basically nothing. Monok's modkill has kind of taken the wind out of my sails, I was fairly sure we were on to something with Monok and Ultama, and suddenly it's all up in the air again.

Grasp is ringing some bells for me, and that drive-by vote was pretty scummy, but I need more time to articulate what it is that bothers me, and right now I need to go to bed.

I'm leaving my vote on Fanderay, because I think the link is interesting, and I need more time to decide how I feel about Ultama.

Vote Fanderay.

Night all!

well, he's yet to come back. we shall see

remove vote

vote Ghennan

I like Ghennan so far.
I am patently unsure about Trake.
It might be very related to the last few hours, but Grasp seems very pushy to get a lynch almost to the point of skipping reasoning entirely.
I can't remember seeing much of Lock.
Cast, meh.
Fanderay: don't see a reason to lynch him. It is basically from rubbing people the wrong way and Ultama fall-out.
Jalan, wtf, 28 posts but can't remember a single one.

I really disliked MO and am sad we didn't get a CF there.

\
since when is "meta" a fucking excuse?

It is a certain's player's obsession to be a pushy towny and it nearly always leads to a major fuck-up on day 2. I am perfectly willing to vote him because
1) it is not good for town
2) this time he may be scum,

but I would be in no way surprised it was just another instance of day 2 syndrome on that particular player.

I have a problem with this.

I don't want to go all Macros here, but maybe the problem with malazan mafia is that townies playing like shit at the start of the game is a way to get VPI'd? So next game that I'm scum (esp. symp) I should do stupid "pushy" shit like Ultama is doing here, make a bunch of bad cases and piss everyone off so that I can be VPI for meta reasons and coast to victory?

When in the flying fuck did that become permissible?

I'm not done catching up yet, but the case on Fanderay doesn't appeal to me at all (seems it's entirely based on the fact that Hanas interacts with him and Ultama more than everyone else? I agree with the bit that they seem to be on at the same time) and I don't anticipate any other trains forming so

Vote Ultama

because apparently I'm shit at alting people so I don't have any meta excuses to PI him, and if you have a fucking weird crazy quadcase explosion followed by an angry OMGUS meltdown you look like scum to me and deserve to be tested.

If these hidden meta reasons are true, well then fuck you you deserve to be lynched so that maybe the next game you'll actually help town instead of fucking your own team over a barrel!
