I'm arguing what I believe overall, regardless of mine or anyone else's current standing in this particular game.

I see. That makes sense.
Still, purposefully bankrupting out for non-RL reasons is not something I'd like to see, personally.

Agreed. If players are not "playing to win" then what is the point of playing? And it means any attempt to actually strategize is completely pointless because any player can just decide to do unreasonably bankrupt themselves, do a bunch of stupid suicide moves against you and quit at any time.
That being said, it's not "technically" against the rules of the game. So I'm all for discouraging it, but not saying that it cannot be done. However, if someone does this I might decide to be irrational myself in the next game and do nothing but focus on obliterating them regardless of my own chances to win.
Double agreed. Play to win. Even if it's dire, it harms everyone's enjoyment if one player is just acting irrationally or stops making a effort based on assumed outcomes (which are far from certain)...especially with so much of the game remaining.

I think taking yourself out of the game for another player/team's advantage is only really acceptable as a "fuck you" when you've no way of winning anyhow. If that's not the case, I'd say don't do it. As a learning experience I doubt it matters much how tenable the position we're in is.

There are several rounds left... You did this last game too, Gnaw. Gave up long before anything had been settled.
I support the others, it is outside of what I would consider the spirit of this game, or any game for that matter. I think Khell said it best: You're the leader of a galactic civilization, and purposefully eradicating your entire species so that another species may gain control of the galaxy is hardly in character.

I got the full resolution board uploaded.
Dr; Grievence, make an action please. Build 3 ships in 304 is my advice. 2 starbass and a cruiser. or 3 starbases.

^^ That was said as gnaw, not GC.
Also as Gnaw: Morgy, my scheming at the moment is to choose rotation as is. I really don't want you getting that absorber.

And when the very fabric of space and time splits in a shrieking maelstrom of chaos, and I stride through signing the song that ends the world, you will have cause to regret your decision.

If the Planta got Neutron Absorber, would that mean that other races could no longer automatically blow up their populations? Or would it make no difference?

No difference. There's a thread answering it at BGG.

Gnaw stay with us. We win as a team or lose as a team. I'm currently pulling or side down but have some ideas.

I've sent grievance a pm with two options of what I would do, either attack or defence wise.
I don't like committing all those resources in the arse end of the galaxy if I don't have to, so I don't think starbases are necessary.
I'm tempted to either move cruiser to attack, or put down a starbases and two interceptors.

Fixed that for you.

My actions this round are very dependant on what you and your motley crew actually decides to do so I would greatly appeciate it if you submit your action post haste.

Tatts, still feeling confident about your tactics in going for the warp portal, or would you be tempted by a chance to pull back?

This. Especially since Eclipse is a euro-game underneath it all, and that means that most things are open until in the end. I guess that also means that the adventure/tactical sacrifice that's part of your strategy is underpowered or even unwise, where it might pay off in war games, which might be why you struggle.
I would disregard the above as I am gloriously drunk right now. Even if I am right.

Hmm, intriguing. IH/Grievance are out of moves. Anything they do from now on means they'll have to start bankrupting hexes.

That was the point from the beginning I think. The influence action was designed to stop me from moving ships into 304 or Vega so the fight against IH would be heavily in my favor. Though they should still have a move or two left before bankrupcty starts to kick in I thought.
