I sort of feel the same way. I'm slowly working my way through book 3 now. I've found each book to be marginally better than the last...but I don't yet see what all the fuss is about.

Would definitely urge you to at least read through Book 4. I'm biased as I'm a stalwart fan of the whole series (though I do have my critiques), but I can objectively say that WIZARD AND GLASS is a remarkable work in its own right; I'm talking, separate from the overarching series (into which, I should definitely call out, it fits beautifully—it's the lynchpin of the 7 main book sin my mind) it's just a goddamned gripping, well-written novel.
