I would really like to see more roleplaying though. It would be a tonne of fun to RP the whole game. Especially where the games take so long to play. Gives you lots of time to develop your character.

I came to the decision that race will be based on my position in pick order. If I manage to end up at the top of the list again I might as well pick something unique just cause you don't always get to be at the top of the pick list. I can't say it worked out the best for me as Rho Indi, but I hung in there alright. With a bit better luck on my explores I could have done a lot more I think. Having to fight tooth and nail for materials basically ALL GAME was annoying with my ships costing so much.

I might give some thought to what my neighbours are picking cause it would be useful in an alliance situation to have complementary racial bonuses...though that's not a massive priority.

If I'm not high in pick-order and can't get one of the more interesting races I'll likely just go Terran. They don't really have a massive leg up or disadvantage and function well in an alliance with any race, really. Same for Magellan. Thing I like about Terran is that if you can get em going then you have that huge advantage of 3 moves per action, which comes in super handy in the late game.

Are we allowing off-board private discussions between alliance members?

The only reason I'm even caring about colours is that g3 has taken so long that the colors are "attached" to the people for me. I see orange, I know it's Tatts, etc. As the person doing the moving stuff around I'm more likely to get something wrong if 4 players are the same color and the other 5 are different.


Off-thread discussions? I don't care. Skype conference calls if that's what you want.

Btw, Twelve said something to me a while back about how it would be nice to have a "spoiler heaven" type thread that players could use to post thoughts, etc. and could read after the game. It occured to me last night that that is possible using Tapper's private subforum. Or D'rek's.

I was going to pick Hydrani or Mechanema, you can always ally up Gnaw.

How does assignment of hexes for other players work? Do I merely pick a hex, that hex will become nr 4 (my rank in play order), and everyone else is divided over the map according to play order?
Or do other players get to choose, as well?

I am assuming that if you pick say Hex 3 then Khell will start in Hex 2 or 4.

You pick the hex you want to start in. Khell to your right and CF to your left.

Originally I only had 6 colours and used the "colourize" filter in inkscape to create orange, pink and white. We could theoretically do custom colours....just sayin.

I would like mine to be rainbow please. A "safe place" for the intergalactic LGBT community



In all seriousness though, just give me whatever colour the others don't want - makes zero difference to me.
