Just having finished TCG, I have to say The Malazan Book of the Fallen is one of the best series
I have ever read. I did have one quick question on the fate of Stormy and Gesler. Did it ever proclaim them
reaching godhood? I assumed they reached a level to be considered strong Ascendants (may be wrong).
But I am curious as whether or not they became gods. Based on their sheer amount of accomplishments
and followers I felt as if they would ascend to Gods upon death.

Well, to become gods they would have to be worshiped, and it did seem like there was an inordinate amount of fanatic respect for them. Themes like the similarities between their barrow and Itkovian's barrow certainly left the idea open that they could become gods. But I don't think there was enough time following their death to actually see them in any position of God. Though there is certainly room for them to become the gods of War.
Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

It was also suggested that they were resisting ascension, so while both of them received 'power-ups' from their various experiences (Gesler as MS of Fener, Fener or something hiding in Stormy, their trip on the Silanda through Kurald Thyrllan, Stormy's link to Legana Breed, being aspected to the KChain Chemalle) they may not have reached a point where their souls would ascend further after their bodies died.

I was always under the impression that the path from Ascendant to Godhood was always one that had to be willingly travelled. Osserc comes to mind, I always pictured him more of a roaming ascendant than a god, even though the Liosan pray to him as Father Light. He seems to have simply turned his back on his worshippers and thus refuted his Godhood. Just a theory.

+Stormy and Gesler are too badass to care about being gods. They'd probably be content just chilling with Iskar Jarak in whatever is left of Hood's realm.

Itkovian wasn't looking for it, and as the Redeemer in TtH he wasn't even sure what he was supposed to be doing until the end.

Ossi is a bit of a wild card, like Rake and Dassem, who seem to be worshipped up to a god's level of power but resist the actual status.

We know that worshippers can affect gods regardless of what the god wants, and we've seen D'rek at least take steps to correct that situation.

Unlike Toc, they had no affiliation with Hood, Death or the BBs, so it seems unlikely (tho entirely appropriate!).

I like the upthread notion of them becoming reluctant, yet badass, gods of war.
