I finished cripple god a couple of months ago and took a longer than normal break between books. I finished Stephen King's new Joyland, 2 books by James s.a. Corey. My mind needed a bit of a break between books, a bit longer than normal. Now im back reading orb scepter throne. Anyone else take breaks from this series then come back?

When I start any series, I hate taking a break from it. To me it seems like I lose the momentum and starting again is almost a chore.

This is the reason why I have yet go back and finish WOT and haven't picked up the next book in SOIAF. Too long of a wait between books. If Lynch's next book release date is bumped again then he too will go into that pile.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

When the last WOT book came out, I just re-read the Sanderson books to get ready and caught back up. As for the new Gentleman Bastard book, I'm pretty sure the book is done so the release date should be pretty accurate......hopefully.

On rereads of this series, I have to take breaks. I usually read something light and easy that does not take too long, like a Terry Pratchett. When The Crippled God came out, I felt I had to do a full reread of the series so I could remember what was going on. I didn't want to wait that long and space things out, so I ploughed through all 10 books in one go. Let's just say my mind got a little bit unstuck from reality. I might have been a bit more morose during that time as well. And it took about 4 months.

Unfortunately, I never take a break between books. Any books. I've probably ran through six or seven "epic" series' since March.

It does leave me a bit detached from reality... and I fear I'll never finish my own short story because I'm always reading.
