Help
Closing the third book in the series gives me a great sense of happiness. I also admit to feeling somewhat confused about the family Paran. Three siblings, and each one of them has become more or less a central character in the series for the foreseeable future. So, is there a deep secret or something about that family or am I just overthinking ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am a first time reader by the way. So please do not put spoilers.

Read and find out for more character info but for now..
It all stems from the supposed disgrace caused by Ganoes on Genabackis and that he is implicated in Lorns death/went renegade with Dujek. It ties into a larger whole of Laseen curbing the power of the nobility but no theres no big secret simply a sequence of events.
Ganoes on Genabackis causes the family name to become sullied, to counteract this Tavore, as the head of the family, becomes Adjunct therefore maintaining her family estates. As we see in GOTM the Adjunt loses all of her old life thus, as a symbol of her loyalty and commitment to the job she condemns Felisin to the mines, though with a protector in the form of Baudin. Its likely Tavore manipulated events so as her sister would be safe or as safe as could be on her way to the mines. Its considered very cold and heartless by some of the POV characters but really Tavore is doing it to protect Felisin. Had Tavore not been Adjunct to look over Felisin the culling of the nobility may well have included Tavore and she could have been chained next to Felisin with neither of them making it to the mines. The irony is that this 'protection' becomes the catalyst that causes Felisin herself to become so overwhelmed with hate for her sister that she becomes a main character and her sisters opposite number in the rebellion.
The next book to deal with this fully is HOC. Im confused as to what books youve read given you say its the third book yet this is the DG forum.

My opinion : these books all are a secret leading to the next secret ..so each way you look at it either you finish the series ASAP( whici BTW i urge you to do - at your own time expense) or just be stuck in riddles..NEXT books dont always tend to follow timeline with all the chars so you may be dissapointed if you dont find fast info.Look at the Paran Family as the hole in Alice in Neverland ..The deeper you get the more confused you get. ....LOLOLO dat methaphor

Thanks for the reply, and I am sorry for causing confusion. I have finished the first three books and since Tavore and Felisin were last dealt with in Deadhouse Gates, I asked the question in this forum.
