Well played everyone! I'm sorry if it felt a bit disheartening at the end - I felt I had - or rather, the Ryllandaras part of me - played a role in that with its constant whinging at the game mechanics - all purely a tactical play, no actual slight on the game intended at all.
And I can see why the constant Vord respawning would be depressing too - but what people seemed to forget is that it still served a purpose: lynch them and they would have no night action, so it was still a useful (at times, very useful) activity, even if it wasn't the Vord Queen you hit.
Now also try and look at it from my point of view: 19 other players were pretty much 100% focused on just killing me, and factions be damned. Near the beginning of the game I asked Venge if he could even remember the last time a cult won in a game - and it seems that it took a 'cult' which didn't need to recruit to finally break that streak. At the midpoint of the game, following the reveal-fest, there wasn't even a danger of hitting the wrong target on your NAs. Indeed, even before that there was little danger, because the Vord respawning clearly identified the alts to go for for everybody else. I was killed and lynched and killed some more more times than anyone else in a single mafia game ever, and that too was pretty depressing at times, because up to 32 of every 36 hours was just spent praying that you wouldn't decide to lynch the correct alt (and then think that I was also actively trying to
extend those days for as long as possible whilst my Decoy ability recharged the last few days!!). The amount of time and energy I invested into this game is not something I would consider doing again in a hurry (although, don't get me wrong, this was an immense role to play and I did love it).
At the same time, I was incredibly lucky at some points (which also possibly balanced out the 'bad luck' - or bad play - of losing the original alts so early on) with how decisions played out. Though I had a small part to play in that, I think D'rek being killed off early on was a massive boost to my chances, as not one of my alts could seemingly say a single damn thing without Nimander leaping all over it

The modkills, though unfortunate for the game, also became a slice of good fortune.
With regards to Gnaw's points: First (and I know this comes from a biased viewpoint) I do think Blend and Venge made the correct decision to freeze at night. Freezing at night does not stop discussion. Yes, you don't know the outcomes of night actions, but it doesn't stop anyone from discussing the various permutations of possible actions. The only thing it stops is voting. Then, when you see the results afterward, you can judge what those night discussions were worth.
Second, while I agree with the general view that Gnaw's intentional modkill was unnecessary and damaging for his team, I'm not a fan of bans on certain players unless there is some serious personal attack (which, to my knowledge, has never occurred in Malazan mafia). I think it's one of those things where everyone needs to cool off for a few days, and remember that it was a game. Basically, I agree with and repeat what Shinrei said a few posts ago.
I had more to say but run out of time again! Well played to everyone once more and thanks again Blend for a wonderful role!!
Rep incoming!
