If you have the time, nothing is stopping you from posting posts of utter brilliance during the weekends. Few mods actually go as far as to lock the thread--tin's just people's coice not to post, or only post "dead thread is dead" for the sake of posting. So I don't agree wit the "oh noes, we only get 4 days of quality mafiaz a week!" sentiment.
Extending the modkill does suck in a way, because it'll make Shinshin and others in the same boat exteremely easy to alt, which can be bad if there are list-related vendettas going around.
Starting the games later GMT-wise wouldn't make a huge difference to North Americans (esp those who play form work anyway). It would deffo suck for Euro mods like Taps, but I think we're big enuff at this point to run most games with 1 euro/1 NA mod combo anyhow. In my own modding experience, that's definitely the best way to set up a game. Though I tend to run a 40h day/night total games, so my perception may be a bit skewed in that regard.
So far I think the "start the game later" idea is the best one we've got.

Hmmm, well look at that, it's supposed to be even. I've been saying it wrong for years!!!

What about a Sunday start? Say noon GMT?
there are damn near as many GMT+ players as there are NA. So alternating scheduling for better participation for them is only fair.

Make day one slightly longer for everyone to check in.
increase the modkill time limit
make days longer and slow your crazy ass play down (if this happened I might actually be able to play agin, Im used to like 2 week long days and 3 days for a night, with, at most, a similar post count to here.

Maccy those day and night lengths are crazy. I would forget that I was playing before day one ended.

Bear in mind, I still think the posting levels here are insane, i can never keep up, even when I worked in an office I struggled. Its much better for the more casual player, most players only having one or two windows a day to contribute, it also mitigates the timezone problem somewhat.
I'd live to play a good old slow as fuck game again, but the players here are too conditioned for speed for it to be viable, and I tried going back to mafiascum about a year ago and the playing style there has become.... Well frankly shit, theyve just turned into glorified statistical analysis and it sucked all the fun out of it for me.

And I want a beautiful blonde with big tits, and lips that taste like French-vanilla ice cream.
If we start on Tuesday morning, and continue to leave out weekend play, we drop to only 4 days of play per week. Or is Shin saying he only needs the first Monday of each game off, but can be there for any additional mondays that may be required?
How can I put this delicately.
Fuck Shin.
I say we exploit his weakness for our own personal gain, and/or ridicule him for being 'temporally challenged.'

I say we fuck the weekend break, because I have more time to play on the weekends anyways.
To be honest, the problem is almost over anyways because my job goes back to normal Tuesday schedule (meaning I have more time) starting next month. Maybe next year during the insane April-July period I'll just take a hiatus to avoid this issue.

We could do what Westeros used to do (still does? not sure), and have a slow game running as well as the usual ones. No, or very low, or night only, time limits. Regulars don't need to worry about it being too much commitment along with regular games, since contribution can wait if the regular game is getting tense, people with less time can play etc.
The only issues are it dying, or people forgetting what's going on then needing time to catch up etc - but the whole point is to give people more time for that stuff.

Nah, all this is unnecessary. My situation changes in just two weeks time.
I was just pissy because I was modkilled two games in a row, because I couldn't sign on in time.

I just wanna throw in here, I hate the weekend breaks. I think leaving a game with no resolutions all weekend is pointless. With being moved to a new factory and ranked League of Legends ladders to climb on weekday nights my reading/thinking and posting energy is funneled into Saturday and Sunday. Modkill timers and day timer? Sure, freeze that. But if we get enough of our shit together to lynch someone having to wait on the resso just sucks any future shit gathering desire out of my best posting hours. At least, that's how it seemed to me, and it made Gnaw suicide last game. Which, coincidentally, destroyed my lynch majority power play......not bitter at all

I have to say I agree with Knucklehead. Imho, I have the most time to post on the weekends. No need to modkill people, but letting the day go on, or resolving stuff would let the two days of possible discussion not go to waste.

IIRC, we've had games where we would get the resolves if enough people were around to make something happen, but no time out etc. Normally what happened was people ended up waiting it out anyway, so everyone would chip in etc.
Depends on who's playing really, if everyone was around it'd be fine. Some people aren't at all though (though I think Dkt was the one who never could post? And he doesn't seem to be around so much now).

I think i'd like that as well, freeze timers but get a resolution if the mod is around and we lynch, some people are able to give more effort in the weekend and this may actually help the games along and be more interesting.
EDIT. I do not have much time during a weekend, usually I am very busy doing fun things. However, I do pop on from time to time to check up on things.

I sometimes have ton of times on weekends. Sometimes I don't
Last game was a pretty good approximation of the amount of effort I can put in from work--I can keep up and comment, but I can`t do long re-reads and brilliant cases. And when I get home I`m usually too tired of brain-work to put in much effort, either.
But on weekends, unless i`m completely away, I`m usually around.

Last game was a good example of how I have a lot more time on the weekends. The first week, I was a low poster, but then on 4th of July weekend I started upping my post count, and got called out on it, because I had tons of time.

I am often around a computer on the weekends, but I don't usually have enough time to actually play the game. Though I agree that it makes more sense to allow votes to count and stuff (and, barring any game mechanics that make this not the way to go) that's how I usually do it, and how many of the mods in many of the games I have participated in do it.
