Hi,

Official Eclipse III signup thread. Note the game will not be played in this thread. It's just for signups.

So far we have for official signups:

FINAL UPDATE:

Roster is now full. If you want to play, you'll have to convince another player to trade with you. We also often have folks that take leave for a week, and often they will trade off with a substitute player in their absence. If you're interested, just follow the game thread and put your name out there as a possible sub.

We'll also be trying a slightly modified format, where all players discuss moves and post moves as normal in the thread, but also update their own first-page thread with a concise description of their action in each phase. That way everyone can see what's going on with player turns at a glance, and it makes it much easier for me to make updates.

Can't recall now. D'rek just got back to me and it looks like she's going to get the gamefiles to me later this week. There's still lots of time for folks to notice and sign up.

I doubt very much I'd be able to get the gameboards up and ready to go before the end of the week anyway.

What rules are we going to play with? AFAIR, we didn't use the ancient hives or homeworlds in the last one but otherwise had everything? After the last one, I'd be very interested in a huge game with no alliances

I can confirm ancient hives and homeworlds are quite fun, they certainly add a bit more tension to the initial draws.

You seemed to be using some of the supernova techs, but not the supernova tiles (unless they just didn't come up).

I don't know how supernova works, I just knew of the discovery tile so I tossed that in, because why not. I don't know anyone who has it, though, so I couldn't even scan the supernova hexes if I wanted to - someone else would have to find them (in person or online). Likewise, there is a quazar (sp?) add-on, too, that I don't know anything about and so didn't use either.

I'm up for an incremental addition to our last-game ruleset. I don't want to go crazy throwing in too much new stuff because TBH it was a bit overwhelming just figuring out the core rules as a newb.

The alliances were an interesting element I thought, but we all (with one exception...sry tats) got to experience allied play last game. If you guys want to do a no-alliance game then I'm in.

However, from Thursday on I'll be on holiday for a week, so if that's a stumbling block, I'm out.
