He didn't say anything about pub dates. Just that he had got through to the end.

I just had a nice chat with Steven at Confusion in Detroit and he said to mention here that he is finally closing in on the end of Fall of Light.

Hmm that sounds way to good to be true. Got me all excited for a second, but I just checked when I would get it if I preordered, and it said the 13th of August.

Amazon tends to put up publication dates without actually confirming with the author/editor/publisher. This is a particularly bad example as he's not even done with the book, so getting it to you in 5 days is highly unlikely.

But... you can probably count on this being done and shipping by next spring (the spring of 2016) as SE says he's closing in on the end of the book in the next few months. Figure for some edits, revisions and then the time it takes for actual publication. I think we might see it by this winter, but that's assuming the process goes quickly.

I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I preordered it from a Dutch online bookstore (bol.com) and the date said the 2nd of Feb. Well that obviously didn't happen. Just don't put any date, instead of just picking one at random!:(

Really I cannot find it on Bol.com.
I remember I got Blood and Bone from Bol.com before most UK and US people got their Book.

I really hate it when they do that. I once Ordered a CD (yes that was some time ago) with them and they said it would be deliverd at a certain date. But a week later I still did not receive anything, so I cancelled my order.

Amazon UK gives august 13 as the date and that's consistent time wise since it's usually out a bit early there

Again, please do not give Amazon or other resellers more credence with publication dates than the actual publishers and authors.

Indeed. I'm sure Amazon has conducted studies that show there is an upward tick, however slight, in pre-orders when they post a release date vs. when there's no date.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Edelweiss has the same date and they do tend to be a bit more accurate

The Bookdepository has different dates: 13 Aug 2015, 6 Oct 2015, and 1 Sept 2015. Probably all just guesses too.

Aug 13, 2015 according to most resellers out there. Maybe there's a chance it's got some consistence. If Steven wraps it all up in March/April it could make sense

Well, as of today Amazon UK updated to 19 November.

Not a good sign.

If I have to guess this seems more likely about the publisher pushing Erikson down the priority list.

It could mean a lot of things, relax. I imagine that publishing is a complicated business so let's not speculate on anything without any concrete facts first.
