I felt compelled to add my voice to the comments on that one. Seriously, at least pretend to quit because of your emotional attachment to the characters. Quitting for the brutality is kind of dumb at this point.

I hated Joffrey in the book (great character, just a huge c**t), but he's the best character in the show IMO and I don't want him to get killed at all. fack. It would be awesome if Joffrey killed Tyrion at the dinner instead. I mean, it would piss everyone off to the extreme, and Tyrion hasn't really done anything cool since the third book anyways so it would be great!

Actually scratch that - definitely gotta see Tyrion kill his dad and c**t of a whore girlfriend.

BTW has everyone in this thread read the books? Wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone

There's absolutely no reason to do the PW next episode, and no reason to give anybody catharsis (except of course if it's offered in the form of Lady Stoneheart's furious eyes popping open). There's plenty to do before PW, I hope they leave it till ep 5 or 6 next year and let him wild out in the meantime.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I expect Catelyn's resurrection next week for sure. As for catharsis, maybe they will let her hang a Frey or two.

Also, Walder Frey reminds me of Fred Phelps. Just saying.

I watch this with a friend who hasn't read the books, pretty much the exact same reaction as everyone else I've seen so far who was in the same position...

' Erm, what the FUCK?'

I used to like the fact that I had read the books and knew what was coming, not so sure now, that surprise would have been cool!

Agreed; I was looking forward not so much to the episode itself, but the non-readers' reactions. Talisa was a nice surprise, though.

I honestly can't even remember my reaction to reading the RW the first time. I do remember that I was really upset that Arya died. But then she had another chapter, and it turned out that Sandor just used the flat of his axe to knock her out.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Humm, I'm kind of annoyed and amused because I've been reading a few analyses of the episode and some writers who obviously read aSoIaF but not much other fantasy are patronising people who are shocked by what's just happened and giving themselves congratulatory pats on the back because this isn't cosy fantasy it's DARK and GRITTY and go read Anne McCaffrey and blah blah.

Which is to a point true, but my gut response to that is: can AMC please take on HBO by adapting Bakker?

Oh god yes, especially if they're being sponsored by a golf company or something.

I nominate Mads Mikkleson for Cnaiur. Kelhus is harder to cast, but maybe someone like a young Paul Bettany? Drusas is pretty easy - Leland Orser.

I told my grandma about the fanrage when I woke her up this morning to give her her meds. Later she was watching some Fox show and they were talking about it, and she felt special for having some idea what they were talking about. It also made Chris Hayes' "Click 3" (the 3 awesomest things on the internet in a given day). He showed some clips from the reaction videos and the Red Wedding gif with Billy Idol and Roose Bolton playing the guitar.

Finally got around to seeing it. My only complaint was that the book virgins I was watching it where already spoiled for it - though one did say that if he hadn't been then he'd have thrown up. I did not however expert the baby abortion that kicked it off, man that was brutal. I really liked the episode. Walder Frey better die in pain in an upcoming book.
The meaning of life is BOOM!!!
