Waiting for the ebook price to come down a little bit. My TBR pile is large enough.

Started it last night. I know reviews have been mixed, but I can't not start this the day it comes out.

As usual, Chapters Indigo don't have it on their shelves, or listed as in stock in any of their stores.
All Canadian's put on your surprised faces.
This is and likely always will be my BIGGEST complaint about Chapters Indigo...they are horrid at stocking their shelves with anything remotely resembling SFF on release date. Apparently if it's not a Heather's Pick or the latest Margaret Atwood drivel it's not worth it to them. I struggle with EVERY SINGLE Erikson release I've ever gone to get on release day.

And then book stores complain that online shopping/ebooks are destroying their trade. Would help if they were able to provide what the fans want, when they want it!
Only £7.49 Kindle Edition here, may get it but I have just started MBOTF reread and am stoked about it, so maybe once GOTM is finished will take a detour for RoT...

ICE's books are even worse. I've gotten into the habit of ordering them from Amazon.co.uk
to be fair, the Square One Chapters is usually better than most others in this respect.
Their website is simply atrocious when it comes to new releases though

Erg...that would mean wading into Square One...which even on a Wednesday morning is a madhouse. I miss my childhood when that mall was a strip mall. LOL
But yeah, I now (since TCG came out) order both ICE's books and Erikson's books from Co.uk as well because I can get them on time. And hardback.

I'm glad to hear so many people chiming in that they are enjoying it. That gives me hope for when I grab my copy. Cheers!

I got it on Kindle. I'll start reading it sometime this weekend. I did a re-read a couple months back while I was laid up after the hospital time, so things are pretty fresh and I'm aware of the strengths/weaknesses of Lynch.
Still kinda ticked off he didn't write Jean and Locke learning how to sail from the grumpy old sailor/Chains analogue section. Oh well.

It gets an A and me wanting to say fuck you for not liking it. However, you're a separate person and have your own tastes, which I respect.
This book is much better than RSUS. Very much a return to TLOLL. Raises the stakes in every way regarding what came before for Locke. Jean becomes a sidekick, which is somewhat regrettable, but understood since we read the books for Locke.
What a read this is. At first, I was worried Lynch would get bogged down in the same foppishness that occasionally overcomes Neil Gaiman, but he keeps things interesting in a perfectly Camorri way. The new characters are strong, unique and the two different storylines work well with each other and what came before.
Sabetha is tremendous. Very much an equal to Locke and Jean, while remaining her own self.
Lynch did it. Buy the book and rest easy.

I enjoyed it, not quite as good as lies, but entertaining from cover to cover. I felt like I would have enjoyed it more had I re-read the previous ones, as a number of things were mentioned from previous books that I'd forgotten.

Don't get me wrong, I did like it. I was just very underwhelmed with the ending of the main storyline. But, I think this is the type of book I will re-read and really enjoy it.

Yeah, the textual strength of emotion and cussing you out was purely tongue in cheek.
Lynch is apparently one of those authors that the re-read doesn't usually bring up hidden details or make profound connections, but it does improve the overall reception of the story he tells. RSUS was like that, even if it was a pretty uneven book and TLOLL had that in a lesser degree.

I almost bought this book, but a friend of mine just warned me that he needs to get me a birthday present so please not to buy it or else he'll have to think of something else to get me. My birthday isn't for another 2 weeks. Argghhh...But I've waited this long already, so another 2 weeks shouldn't make a difference, right?

I'm going to d/load and read this ASAP just so I can respond to your comments about this book with venom and knowledge. I find your contribution to this and other conversations insipid, which is a large part of the reason why I pick fights with you. You like to pontificate from a position of assumed authority, as do I, but you lack humility and raw intelligence, imo.

I always found humility your greatest strenght, Mal.
