With the main thread for posting of the submissions only this thread is where we can talk about how we think we're doing, problems (possibly word limitations are too tight) finding inspiration and all that other marvelous stuff

Dolmens idea if this thread sucks.

But I'll start off anyway, I have a pretty solid idea in my head what I'm aiming for with my story, should get a rough draft written tomorrow night,

ETA
Current challenge, 1000 word story that ends with the line:
James slumped in his chair, he hadn't seen that coming

Confused. Virtually same as that other thread started by The Bard: http://forum.malazan...0

I have a few ideas swimming about in my head. essentially the running themes in all of them is sudden comprehension. The Character, James sounds pretty ordinary so I might go for a normal setting and a mystery plot.

We have the submissions thread stickied (thank you silencer) and submissions are to be pm'd to the bard.

I, quite foolishly, left my laptop at work yesterday and so only pen and papered a swift outline. I'm thinking keeping it below 1000 words while conveying what I want will be the challenge here.

I'm 800 words in and the story seems to have turned on me. Looks like I'm writing a comedy and I am struggling to pace out my last 200 words.

Ok, set, sadly not many people in on this which is a pity. we need more PR for this programme. we need like scantily clad women and soapy water riding dragons.
Clearly this is the only way to get people to enter!

finally up! Mine seems to be incomplete? I'm not sure, maybe Its a browser issue... I like your take but I think 1000 words really cramped the flow of the story. Hard to get the pacing right we may want to give ourselves an optional excess
