Huh, I just accidentally found out that 'Tiamat' is a chaos monster from Babylonian mythology, popularised by Dungeons and Dragons board games as a many-headed dragon.
So I guess we know now where the name T'iam/Tiamatha came from, it's harkening back to the Malazan origin in the gaming between SE, ICE, and others.
Makes me wonder what other inspiriations there were for certain names in the Malaziverse.

There was a thread on this subject a couple years back with some interesting finds, but I don't remember what to search for to find it.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
