If you can move one tiny ship into my system it would be cool Khell. I think I have something figured out.

Where do you want a ship?

Nah. Forget it. you have better things to do right now and I changed my mind.

With all your focus on the west and devious plans against a militarily strong enemy, you shouldn't totally forget the north either. IH's borders are swiss cheese to Khell's warp portal tech, and he has nothing in his core worlds to defend them.

If it came down to it, losing 2vps for yourself as a result of broken diplomacy equals only -1vp for your alliance, -2vp at most (if you both contribute ships), and you stand to gain a lot from system influence and more colony blocks on the board.

I mean, if you're talking straight VPs for your alliance, it seems like (and I know I'm biased in saying this) you would be better served putting the hurt on IH's core worlds....especially that totally undefended 3VP homeworld...given that both of you have full combat VP slots on your player boards.

Whatever though. I'm not really keen on expanding rapidly into EM territory. I really only just got my material production going and still have relatively weak ships, but I know I'll have a hard time convincing you of that.

EDIT

THat's not just bullshitting for the sake of it either. Do you guys think that's a fair assessment at all? I mean, nab a few sneaky VPs up north with few losses or force a lossy battle with me/twelve for relatively few VPs.

That hex I'm eyeing is very tempting. What I see is D'rek's ships too far away to do anything about it. IH's dreads are right next door, on the other hand, but if he moves them, even one of them, he break diplo with me and allows twelve the opportunity to move north after all.

What I said before does hold true - you leave me alone and I'll leave you alone. Of course, that counts for leaving my ally alone too.

And moving north is what I want to do......

On a side note all of this talk about a warp Hex for EM's backyard makes me glad I'm building up my starbases after all.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

D'rek, can I get a clarification - even if I influence that hex I can't put any population cubes down this round, can I? Or can I? The colony ships always confuse me.

If you influence this turn, you can place pop cubes during that or any subsequent action at any time by flipping colony ships. You have 3 colony ships and therefore can place a max of 3 pop cubes (1 at a time or simultaneously) in any hex over which you have influence.

@ Khell

I stick to my diplomatic guns. No aggression from you & EM = same in return from me.

INFLUENCE 209 DELTA ERIDANI, no colonisation.

Don't think I haven't noticed how quiet D'rek and IH have been whenever I've brought up the subject of that hex.

Not sure how rules on colonization work if you pass on it here. Would Khell have to take another action to populate that hex or could it be done in, say, upkeep?

Colony ships aren't an action. You pretty much can do it anytime during the round.

I know they aren't an action, I just thought they might have to be done *with* an action. No matter anyway.

Khell you can freely colonise that territory as you regenerate 2 colony ships. Been waiting for you to that since turn 2 when I didn't put an interceptor there.

Anyway pass

Thanks Tatts, I thought it was per round for some reason. That's why I was confused. Okay, colonise the two planets (money and science, I think).

To answer IH, I've been eyeing it for some time, but never felt I had the moves left to afford to do it.

Points-wise it's a fair assessment, but there's two problems: {a} EM has no ability to get to there - with no wormhole generators he can't go through Khell like Khell can go through him. It would be all up to Khell to both attack there and to keep some ships in EM's borders to discourage you; and {b} IH has only his core area, so he will defend it wholly, while Twelve has the center and will not dare commit himself fully to defending his homeworld because IH would attack the center if he left it undefended.

Your influence action flips up two colony ships, which you immediately flip back down to colonize the two planets.
