My thinking was to set up a Shrine network during the Upkeep phases as quickly as possible. If I explore more, and put other influence discs on other hexes too, I won't be able to afford to set up a money-based Shrine most likely. Also, with the way the hexes have been placed thus far, I've pretty much got free access any time to the hexes north of me and directly south of me. I didn't see a need to rush.

If you guys still think it's a bad idea then I will explore, but it didn't strike me as all that shocking when the Shrines are taken into account.

You can always do Science and Material shrines first even if you don't get all 3 of one level before moving onto the ones with higher costs. I think you can have 6 shrines on your homeworld because of the 6 different planets. Plus to get to the 6 cost shrines and still be able to fend off attacks from advanced military units you will need a decent size income in all three resouces. To do that you need multiple sectors with planets in them. And you need to turtle yourself and you can't do that if other races are doing the exploring near you. Then you definately won't be able to do both shrines and defend.

But that's why I suggested the alliances - in which I specifically said I hoped EM and IH would do the defending for me. As you've just pointed out, I don't need all that many more planets to complete the full Shrine network. With the exploring I've said that with the hex placement IH and EM already seem to be passing up the north and south hexes.

Gah, okay...don't pass, explore south from my home hex instead.

Note: number of planets does not equal number of population cube slots. So Khell's home sector has 6 slots, but only 3 planets.

Also note: you can only build one shrine per round.

I'd like to place it with wormholes at north and north-west. And place an influence disc, a material population cube, and a science population cube. Ta!

The materials slot is an advanced slot, so you cannot claim it yet. I will put the rest into effect.

Map, lyra board and Keepers board updated.

By the way everyone, note that the background of the board is just for fun and you can explore off its edges if you want to - everything beyond the listed Tier III on the board also counts as Tier III - you can explore as far out as you want but after 22 Tier III hexes no more Tier IIIs can be explored.

Hopefully a good tile with no ancients.

Yay forum is back up.

I'm confused by this statement. Number of planets does not equal number of population cube slots. So Khell's home sector has 6 slots but only 3 plantes.

I'm pretty sure he has 6 planets. I can see where the number of population slots would be greater if he builds an orbital but not less than the number of planets.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

He has three planets in his system. Each of these planets has a basic population slot, and an advanced population slot, but they are still only one planet(ie a circle equals a planet), so he can only build 3 shrines.

I did not know that.

I've PM'd CF so he should hopefully get his orders in soon.

After he does his action I'm going to explore Tier 1 Sector with my third action.

Drek could you put a blown up version of the ancient dreadnought? I can see it is pretty bad-ass but not how badass. Doesn't really matter for a while but I'd like to see.

(Don't feel too bad - half the original Tier I hexes have ancients, and unlike Tiers II and III there are no new Tier I hexes in the expansion)

Influence, colonize the money planet and orient it so I will have no contact whatsoever with Mechanema.(Question: which is better, no contact with CF and no chance of exploring that Tier 3 or contact with CF and chance of explore? I think the first option is safer.)

Edit: to be clear: 1 wormhole to my home world/ another to tier 1.
