Our alliance has no need or interest in attacking you, given the weakened state of IH and d'rek. We can make up the VPs in better ways muahahahahahaha

That all sounds well and good. I hope your erstwhile ally is willing to back that up. How about it, twelve? Diplomatic relation to help ensure our mutual non-involvement in each other's business?

I know D'rek and IH are hoping I do something to help out their efforts, and, indeed, if the four of us (including EM) did all sally forth together from different directions, you two might struggle to hold on to your conquests.

Unfortunately I have no desire to take up a reputation spot for another diplomatic relations as I fully plan on taking the traitor card fighting D'rek over Tats homeworld. I can get more points (in theory) from reputation tiles in those fights than I can gain from holding your diplomatic card. But my desire to finish off D'rek and IH is greater than getting in a tussle with you if that means anything to you.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Your answer is cautiously accepted by the Enlightened. Nevertheless, the Enlightened must needs take appropriate measures to address any situation - thus are the Enlightened named so. Know that any such measures, if and when implemented, are purely intended as additional deterrants, and should not be construed as threatening to yours or your mechanical ally C3PO's - apologies, the Enlightened meant to say CF(PO) - psychotic plans for galactic domination.

RESEARCH Quantum Grid for 13 Science (convert 3 Materials to 1 Science to make up the payment).

Khell if you think twelve and CF are going to leave you alone to gather enough points to win with your tiny fleet well you are a more trusting man than me. Attack them now whilst their forces are split. If you face them alone in round 9 you will be crushed.

Anyway research conifold field on the top track.

Yeah, I get that I'm walking a tightrope and beginning to lose my balance. Whatever I do though, if it is to be effective in any way, it needs to be done in coordination with you, D'rek, and EM, otherwise we'll all end up stumbling over each other instead of pushing twelve/CF back. I was even contemplating voluntarily surrendering some hexes to you, IH, in order to bulk up your resource potential for the final push against the evil ones in the last round.

As you have 3 colony ships I thought you could only colonize 3 planets? If not does this mean If you flip one ship you can colonize as many planets as you like? How many Orbitals are you allowed? Wow I really did make a mistake making them didn't I? But you did say you'd leave me alone if I left you alone :p

well, I'd like to get starbases to secure our borders a bit...but I was also thinking of tachyon drive to give me mobility on the bulkier ship designs. I dunno now. I could get tachyon drive this time and starbase next action around with a bit of materials conversion....though I'm not 100% sure I should do that given our need for ships.

Other option is to nab the improved hulls for the VP and starbases for defense. I haven't decided. thoughts?

@Khell

you are wise to plan ahead. I have no need or desire to break diplo with you, and given our spread-outedness, Twelve and I aren't going to be in much of a position to do anything but coordinate. His attacking you would surely involve coordination with me, and I don't want to attack you, so there you have it. Build your starbases, save your actions, protect your borders. It's the smart thing to do.

Fear....pfft.

You, sir, are not going to have much left after this round. If I were khell, I'd take advantage of the truly weak enemy here and mount an attack on your starbases to capture a juicy Tier I hex.

You alright with me influencing Beta centauri Twelve? I could use the materials production and econ boost....and I have the influence disc to burn.

Also, IH is going to take it back if we don't grab it right away.

Influence action lets you flip two colony ships back up

"During the Influence action, you may turn two of your used
Colony Ships face up, even if you choose to move no Influ
ence Discs."

That seems like a funny rule...lets you populate 5 squares in a turn?

Colony ships can be "used at any time during your action", per the rules, but if your action is a simultaneous influence action, none of your colony ships are "unused" during the action, since there is no pre-action phase where you could have flipped them. If you already had flipped ships at the start of the action then I'd be all for it....what you did seems like an abuse of a loophole.

Is it mentioned in the FAQs or forums?

It's a pretty standard strategy when you expand quickly, to influence to allow you to take advantage of this, it's the only thing that makes the influence action useful, rather than mostly useless. Compared to most other actions it's underpowered otherwise.

OP says

***Parts 1 and 2 can be done in any order

and has said that all game...

and yes, it is in the rules somewhere.

Ok, that's fine.

I'm going by the core rulebook and I can't find any reference to it. If it's standard practice then no problem.

I had another question though. Could I influence Zeta Chamaeleontis through the wormhole from D. Corvi if I wanted?

And don't think I'm calling you cheaters with all my rule disputes...I really don't mean it that way.

It's only my first time through a full game and I want to make sure I'm clear on the subtleties so I can make better decisions next game.
