oh, and Twelve, thanks for the PM reminder. It popped up in my hotmail inbox. I'd forgotten.
Please use that to remind me in the future. I really don't mind...I just have a shit-tonne of RL stuff going on and don't always have time to get on the forum.

Sure no problem. I saw your name as logged in when it was your turn but you didn't seem to have noticed so I figured you weren't really reading the thread.
Eh I suck at roleplay. Glad the machines are willing to join for the benefit of us both.
So I assume we are waiting on D'rek to do some mod things or are we waiting on Tats to take his action?
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Why are we waiting on me? Is it my turn?

No one has chosen what population they want to discard so actions are not even ready yet.
If we choose to removed a materials population does that increase the amount of materials we gain the next phase?

I chose to discard a money cube but yeah if you choose a material cube to discard you will generate the next uncovered number under the cube on your player board. As hydra you you have one material world to populate in your homeworld so you go from producing 2 materials to 3 if you pick materials you would go from 3 to 4. So during your next upkeep you will generate 4 materials for use next round. Take a look at your player board and it will give you the progression for each population cube that is used to populate planets, orbitals (Money/Science only) or diplomatic relations.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Oh and CF and I chose to explore for our first actions that is another reason I thought it might be your turn.

I'll discard a money cube, when my turn comes around.

I cannot populate the material world on my starting block until I research advanced mining though, so I actually don't produce any materials until I unlock that, you should probably look at your own in case the same4 applies to you..

Work done for the day, time to bone up on the game, and drawing up my own board for ease of reference.
So. What's a hex then?
I kid, I kid.

Everyone generates 2 of each resource to start with, plus additional from populating planets, eg hydrans generate 4 research to start with (due to two research planets and having advanced labs) 3 money and 2 materials. Everyone should discard in turn order but it doesn't make a huge difference if people discard out of turn (i assume most people will go for money as it is the critical resource early on, but you might go for research if you wanted to go heavy on research, or materials if you thought you were going to need it, ie mechanema's start often depends on finding at least one material planet, picking a material discard removes the risk of not finding a material planet)

Oh sorry. I thought you had a material planet you could populate on your homeworld. I though your homeworld layout was the same as terran. I guess I was wrong.

The Tier III sectors from last game had 11 of the 18 hexes that had either material or grey planets, though three of them also had ancients but that is still almost a 50-50 shot for every outer planet sector you explore. Not bad odds.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Not sure I understood the discard rule. Can somebody lay it out for me?
I thought we just put a pop cube on each of the 3 planets in our home system and then started our turn.
