When you discard a population cube you uncover a higher number of that population to be generated the next phase.

Everyone chooses one to discard first before adding them to your own worlds.

The discard rule is for 7-9 players I think. Something to help offset the slower starts and the crunch to the middle I assume.

Ok then. Since I have a racial bonus to build costs, no sense discarding there right away. I discard an extra science cube, then place my money and science cubes on my homeworlds.

I just want to confirm something which is probably obvious. The ship blueprints...those are the items that those ships start out with automatically (i.e. before you upgrade anything), is that correct? And then, when you upgrade, you 'swap out' one of those things for your upgrade? So, say, I get a Plasma Cannon and stick it over the Ion Cannon bit of my Interceptor - the Interceptors now no longer have Ion Cannons but Plasma Cannons instead, yes?

Some of your ships may be incomplete, you still have to buy/build the ship, the smallest one costs 3 materials to build, then you can upgrade and add to it with the research you do.

Oopise, I slept in a lot and then had to run straight to class but I'm back now! Working on populating the homeworlds now to complete the setup.

I will do visual player boards and a supply board, probably posting them anew every time actions go all the way around the board or so - more often later on when things get messy and actions are not taken as quickly. I'll just post them along as we go, Morgy-style, but I'll try to keep a link to the latest update post in the first post of the thread for easy reference.

If you want to keep a test-based update system that can be updated more quickly, by all means go for it and we'll use that between visual updates.

Right! And if you do another upgrade action later you can remove those plasma cannons and put something else on that spot, or just remove them and leave them as ion cannons.

Hopefully I can finish setup today. What I will do is go through each player in order so at the least there will be some ability to get some actions done and the delay won't be as bad. For now, I will just post player boards and an updated map as I finish preparing each player.

And CF, I'm making you red for ease of fonts and colour disparity and stuff. So you're pretty much cylons now :lol:

A convention that I will be using will be that things you are not using will be beneath the board (ie: influence discs you don't have yet {from research advanced robotics/quantum grid}, ships that aren't on the board, shrines that Khell hasn't built, etc) and things that you are using or have already used up will be above the board (ie: colony ships in either state, developments you have bought, alliance tiles, khell's shrine bonuses once he acquires them, etc)


CF's action #1:

The Mechanema launch an exploraty mission through an uncharted wormhole, finding that it leads to Zeta Zeticuli, designated sector 207 - a barren sector that has long ago been depleted of its resources. Inhospitable to organic life, the sector has been barely explored and so the Mechanema have an advantageous opportunity to perhaps find something useful amongst the ruins...


Instructions, for everyone's sake: CF has explored. The uncovered hex is revealed to all, as per the map below. CF can orient it how he chooses as long as it has a connection to one of his hexes or ships. The hex has a discovery tile, but no planets. Since there are no Ancients, CF can immediately place an additional influence disc to claim the sector and its discovery tile (but he doesn't have to). He can also choose to discard this hex, and it goes into the discard pile (only used again if the draw pile is emptied). While waiting for CF to make these decisions/alterations, Twelve can proceed with his next action if he wants to. If CF's decision makes a difference depending on what Twelve wants to do, Twelve can choose to wait until CF's move is totally done.

I would like to wait on how to orient the hex after I learn what CF gets from his discovery tile however. If it's a cruiser or certain alien ship parts I might not connect with him just yet.
