ALERA for more Butcher.

For solid urban fantasy, i'd suggest Carey's FELIX CASTOR. Darker, slower, very nicely done. Complete in five books tho a sixth is rumoured.
Jacka's ALEX VERUS series also gets a fair amount of recos. I've only read the first and it wasn't bad, three out so far and apparently they improve.

Hilarious Tweet from Butcher when he'd finished and Tweeted about finishing SKIN GAME.

Jim Butcher: Just finished writing the finale of Skin Game. Now it's just the wrap-up chapter and we'll get it moving toward print. :(

Noggin: So glad Skin Game is done, any idea what the next book is called?

Jim Butcher: Dude, seriously?

LOL!

At any rate, DANGEROUS WOMEN is out next week, so we can all read Molly-centric BOMBSHELLS. WOOT!

From someone called Anne Sowards, retweeted by Jim Butcher: "Finished editing SKIN GAME! It is fantastic, you are going to love it." Not looking likely for a Christmas pub date though, reading her feed...

Cover art and blurb for SKIN GAME! http://www.jim-butch...-game-cover-art

Quote

Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard, is about to have a very bad day….

Because as Winter Knight to the Queen of Air and Darkness, Harry never knows what the scheming Mab might want him to do. Usually, it's something awful.

He doesn't know the half of it….

Mab has just traded Harry's skills to pay off one of her debts. And now he must help a group of supernatural villains—led by one of Harry's most dreaded and despised enemies, Nicodemus Archleone—to break into the highest-security vault in town so that they can then access the highest-security vault in the Nevernever.

It's a smash-and-grab job to recover the literal Holy Grail from the vaults of the greatest treasure horde in the supernatural world—which belongs to the one and only Hades, Lord of the freaking Underworld and generally unpleasant character. Worse, Dresden suspects that there is another game afoot that no one is talking about. And he's dead certain that Nicodemus has no intention of allowing any of his crew to survive the experience. Especially Harry.

Dresden's always been tricky, but he's going to have to up his backstabbing game to survive this mess—assuming his own allies don't end up killing him before his enemies get the chance….

ASDFGHJKL!!!!! CANNOT WAIT!!!!
Not really a fan of the cover art btw. But, it's the story that counts.

i am particularly curious to find out who the rest of the crew for the heist are. Butcher is brilliant at supporting cast and he has a great depth and bredth of characters and sources to work from.

Would love to see Kincaid in there... he plays so well off Harry and especially given recent events.

The cover art is cool...but the continuous use of the Hat STILL annoys me.

That said, the best recent cover was COLD DAYS...so I can't complain, McGrath's track record is really too solid to moan about when one stumbles.

Can't effing wait for the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At this point I feel like it'd be weirder if the hat disappeared from the covers.

Maybe they should take it off only for the apocalyptic trilogy at the end?

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

i'm figuring the cover for the very last Dresden book will just be the hat, on the ground, burning.

What about the one after that? I just finished Cold Days and I would like to know if Harry ever gets to drink a beer with Merlin in Alternate Reality #25 before the end of civilization
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

This being a trip into Greek Mythology, in terms of Hades related stuff I want to see Pegasus the flying horse. A minotaur. Cerberus. A motherfucking ancient Titan wouldn't be bad either... Ooohh, maybe one of the hundred handed monstrosities that are said to be able to throw mountains!

I really can't see anyone of the known cast of characters fitting into this heist story as a team member though.

I reckon, it being about the Holy Grail, one or more Knights or Angels might show up at some point.

EDIT: Wait, this is the realm of death. Dead characters could be coming back in this book. His evil mentor. His father or mother. The mother of his daughter I forget her face.
