I have all the Erikson books & I've read up as far as the start of Reapers Gale. I stumbled onto this site then & seen that there are other books posted in recommended reading orders ha. Do I need to read the Esslemont books or can I just finish the Erikson books & go back and read the others when I'm done?

Sorry, just a little confused.

You can just finish if you want, but some things will not provide the reward of a proper timeline. There is a reading order thread on here, but i'm gonna give the link to werthead Reading order
Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

You can cheerfully read the ten SE Malazan Book of the Fallen series back to back without any difficulty, then read the Esslemont books.

BUT... if you do read them in the linked order, there are a handful of references that come through.

You could also read all the SE, then the ICE books, and then do a reread in the linked order, whereupon your mind will be BLOWN AWAY by all the links, hints, foreshadowing and details that no mere human can possibly grasp until they reread this series from the beginning.

It's win-win... enjoy!

I ran the numbers, and the possible combinations and permutations of reading the books and achieving near-orgasm are 765,876.23 x 10-n. I'm no mathematicalations guy, though, so don't quote me on this.

I'd make one 'correction' to Werthead's list: Return of the Crimson Guard is more often argued as best read AFTER Reaper's Gale, rather than before, as it contains a couple of minor spoilers for RG. See, for example, the re-read at Tor Books, where they agreed to read RG before RotCG.

Also, Wert's list doesn't include Blood and Bone, which is kinda tricky. Begins around the same time as Stonewielder, but ends after The Crippled God. I'd probably read it after tCG, as it contains a couple of things which are sorta kinda indirect spoilers.
"I think I've made a terrible error of judgement."

I read them all in order up until Dust of Dreams, then I HAD to start The Crippled God, Reading Stoneweilder at the moment, and will read OST, Forge Of Darkness and Blood & Bone later, most likely in that order haha
