Chi blocker, to me, seems to imply some sort of guard. That's my guess. I haven't read/watched/researched the flavor of this game so I may be way off.

I agree. Afaik, chi is some sort of spiritual energy, so blocking that might block abilities that need that energy. As he was an equalist, id bet benders (republic) need chi to do their actions (and so instead of just being called guard, for flavor their called chi blockers)

As people seem to be clueless, chi blockers are like awesome kung fu ninjas and by blocking peoples chi they can temporarily disable them and their bending (or thats the gist of it from the series)

So by saying temporarily, they would generally serve as a guard on Benders. That makes the most sense to me.

Chi blockers have awesome martial arts skills as well as being able to temporarily block bending, so I'd say they would be able to guard anyone.

Amon is the only one (As far as I recall) who can permanently remove bending skills.

I'll wait for the resolution before lookng back.

Officer Song had received a tip that Hiroshi Sato was a member of the Equalists. Though putting little stock in these rumours, he took a team of Republic City metal bending police and a few members of the United Forces with him to search Mr. Sato’s several estates. Unfortunately, they were not able to turn up any concrete proof that he was an Equalist. As they were leaving his mansion, however, they were attacked by a small squad of Equalists, Amon rumoured to be among them. A few people on each side of the fight were injured, and though he fought valiantly, Officer Song was killed in action. Upon examination of his corpse at a later time, Chief Beifong surmised that he was most likely hit by a stray fire bending by the United Forces.

Olar Ethil is dead. He was Officer Song of the Republic City faction and Mentalist.
