I might make it to the Christmas meet up if my fiancee wants to come along.

It will probably become hard for me to visit the bbq next year since I am going to move to the United States in January to live there with my fiancee.

Congratulations Mez! It's huge having your own place, doing what you want with it and hang the critics ;)
And thanks for coming in those circumstances! - if it were me I'd be hard-pressed to stop planning my new garden.

So...I finally got the small, intimate BBQ with people of quality that I've always wanted :p

I'm intrigued...

well, you could use one or two additions of quality surely...

Nah, I already visited earlier this summer, so there's no one of quality lacking at this point.

Id say your absence alone has doubled the quality.

Imagine then the awesome nature of my presence, when the presence of my absence alone can double the quality of a bbq.

the high point for me was when we were languishing at the pub patio during astonishly good weather and we ended up with a follower - this 50-ish dude who has a truly horrible job and a persistently mean expression. So, we're loudly trying to convince this man of his own worth, telling him that he's not stupid, only uneducated. Also, educating him about 3D printers. Good Times. More importantly, I can't imagine doing something like that with anyone else - we were fucking serious! Trying to improve that man

He was entirely sure that we were crazy though. Or roaring drunk. Either way, I wonder if he regretted his choice of table. Although, at least he experienced someone telling him he was worth something. I didn't get the impression that was a common occurrence.

You are not invited Torrahammas. Nothing personal, I'm sure you're interesting but now that we have this select group my mind is bending towards them and I'm looking very much forward to some protracted intelligent conversations about ALL the things.

Ahoy hoy chaps and chapettes! Sorry for the lengthy disappearance - I'm sure you'll not have expected me imposing myself upon you this weekend in any case, but just to be safe and save you all weeping in to your sausages when I don't arrive, I'll be up in Leeds this weekend sampling the delights of the north (clarification: there are none) on a stag do this Saturday alas. I'll try and send some sort of drunk communication at an indeterminate point in the day though, so you don't all miss me too much. Might even mumble obscenities in an irish brogue so you have to guess if it's me or Maccy. Or cry down the phone so you think it's Brood, something like that. Anyway, enjoy yourselves everyone! Hope you're all good and someone is providing the liver-numbing disgust-juice that is akevitt in Morgy's absence?

Fuck, I have been given shifts at work for the weekend and I cannot get out of them, so I'm going to have to miss this one. Fuck damn it.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I have finally got round to doing a quick edit of photos - not really a huge number of people feature - but quality over quantity, I think. It was a really good time and the usual sort of activities involving humungous quantities of meat, alcohol and abuse of cardboard cutouts. Thanks so much to Malaclypse and Hetan for being "the hosts with the most", and glad that Mez, Cougar and Puck showed their staying power.

That looks like fun. And incredibly dangerous. Sorry I was unable to make it this time, but a previous appointment had me sunning myself for a week and a bit on an Adriatic isle. Oh how I suffered ;)
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants.
