I'm actually really surprised by the early alliance offer. It doesnt seem like alliances do anything other than victory conditions so why waste resources on it so early? It just gives everyone not in the alliance an obvious target faction for culture hunting

I'm not really surprised by this alliance offer. If you take a look at who both of these factions can't align with, then it makes sense for these two factions to have an alliance. They make natural allies. Every faction has two factions that makes sense to align with. If you are the first faction to align with both then you have roughly half the players on your side helping you eliminate players that are actively working against you. It's actually a pretty smart play in my book. The only downside is as someone mentioned that you don't know who these players are anymore than before the alliance unless there is added benefit from the making of the alliance. But according to PS there isn't.

All players of that faction can then respond to Path-Shaper. Once a majority of the faction (50% +1 of its players) agrees, the alliance is sealed and confirmed during the dusk phase. Alliance proposals can be maintained as long as the player who proposed it, is still alive. He can also withdraw the offer (but this does not repay him the cost of proposing the action).
If the accepting party was already part of an alliance with a faction that is anathema to the newly allied party, the old alliance is broken.

The Qadi can't ally with the Cult of Vultures, nor with the Nepeth.
The Nepeth can't ally with the Qadi, nor with the Khanate.
The Khanate can't ally with the Nepeth, nor with the Houses of Agreement.
The Houses of Agreement can't ally with the Khanate, nor with the Guild of Beggars.
The Guild of Beggars can't ally with the Houses of Agreement, nor with the Night Prophet.
The Night Prophet can't ally with the Guild Beggars, nor with the Cult of Vultures.

Right. And so the biggest possible alliance is 3 factions after which point one of the 3 will be unable to ally with every other faction so the alliance can't get any bigger. So if the Nepeth agree to ally with the HoA they can also get the CoV or the NP into their alliance. But that splits up the game neatly into players who are part of that alliance and players who are not probably with roughly equal numbers to each side. I think it's riskier than waiting though - let's say the Nepeth agree and the CoV join in too. Then mostly just from bad luck a few CoV and Nepeth players are crippled or killed in the first few days/nights. It'll be too late for the HoA to turn around and try to join the Qadi and NP who are now doing well. But instead of the HoA waited and saw the Nepeth/CoV going downhill they could ally up the other side without having made any animosity.

I guess there's advantages and disadvantages to either method but I still find the earlyness of it rather curious. Maybe one of the HoA players has an alliance-proposing-related ability.

At the borders of the Nepeth Empire, enterprising scholars found an ancient shrine, dedicated to an equally ancient god. Pilgrims are expected to make its way down the road to Ishktar soon. The holy men, fanatics if I ever knew some, and I did (and do), are calling for it to burned, desicrated, the people who found it to be decapitated and every worshipper to be killed. The priests of Madeena are more moderate: appreciative of old architecture and mindful of temple treasures, they call for a re-dedication to the One God.

A Place of Worship is built in the Nepeth Empire.

I feel like there is so much stuff going on behind the scenes that no one wants to talk on thread...

I do hope this will not be a symptom of the entire game.

There is so much to keep track of and update that it's bound to take time away from actual posting. There has definately been a lot less joking around at the beginning of the game as well. Ruse has put forth the best effort at the moment. Anyone else has any idea of how we should approach this game? It has the feel of faction within faction. You have players on your group but there are others out there that you don't necessarily want to be hostile towards either because they may at somepoint join your group. Plus there is game within game ramifications where players that survive this game will make appearances in later games as well so people seem to be a lot less willing to contribute. I'm thinking it's taking people extra time to wrap their minds around.

"Anyone else has any idea of how we should approach this game?" just divide it mentally between playing regular faction mafia (on-thread) and tabletop RPG gaming (all your crazy off-thread stuff). I think most of us are only really going to have the stuff to do one action a day so it's not unlike being a roled player in a faction game plus bazaar. The few with big resource production are like the power roles.

I have been online on and off for a number of hours .
Bazaar seems pretty much dead,I believe that's because only 30% of tiles have access to it.
Livestock prices in the is FUCKING RIDICULOUS.
The location analysis is pretty much useless imo. It's all speculation and even if we all knew where everyone was at the start of the day,It would be useless by now as people can move.

Okay I see the alliance offer now. I don't know how I missed it before as I looked into that thread earlier. So we can add the HoA member location to the list but I'm not sure how useful creating these lists will be as people can move around more than just at the end of the day ala D'rek's Ro3K game. But at least they will give us an idea of where some people are located at least part of the day.

Gives an idea of who might be around you and who might be where you want to go. ie if you are afraid of assassins you might want to avoid the Madeena locations.

Assassin role trying to draw people to his location?

It is my honor to present you with the opportunity to earn 500 extra dinari per good you sell on the next day phase, in return for the modest fee of 1500 dinari. If bought, place the number of goods sold in Roman numerals in BLUE behind this contract.

Oh boy here we go! Obvious contract is obvious. Anyone else remember getting screwed by HoA abilities/contracts that offer money and cheat you? I wouldn't trust this contract as far as the scroll its written on can roll.

Hey if a ton of people choose to spend their resources on moving because of some random scene deciphering that took me 2 minutes instead of spending those resources on improving themelves it's a profit for me!

So, caginess of a regular faction game with the added insanity of all the shit going on behind the scenes. Might take a while for this game to get rolling.

My guess is that the Livestock price is so high because someone made a request for it in the Request thread (perhaps you?), so the seller knows there is a demand.

There is demand,sure.
But imagine for a minute,If Bacon was sold at 10 times its current price.Would people still buy it?
No.Because there is a certain equilibrium between demand and prices.

I agree with you. I commented earlier that the current sellers seem to be over greedy initially. Hopefully the market will balance out as we go on though.
