Game Thread: Tales of the Desert 1.0 The Crossroads of Ishktar

Don't know how many others have put any thought into the US holiday Thanksgiving. If we do a speed lynch today, we could get another game day in before that holiday. (I'm fine with playing through it, but others may not be.)
You could go low poster route, in which case I'm typing up my own death warrant.
Or Karosis (sorry. You were the first to remove vote on me Friday, but you have been playing rather suspiciously).
Fener maybe? He's been quiet. And if he is the person who is building up norther desert, he looks to be hunching in for the long haul.
@Ruse. Who were you talking about when you got silenced?

Interesting.
First game was only in Ishktar hence Tax Collector of the South. Bet ya that has evolved into Tax Collector of the North or something like that hence the change in the exact mechanics of it. Either way it is damned annoying and I'd be willing to lynch someone who seemed vaguely to be protecting Tellan on the off chance that they were doing so because they are HoA and might be the stupid tax collector

I liked it better when only the richest players got targeted.
You don't think the guy getting 500 dinari from every other player (15x500 = 7500!!!) EVERY DAY isn't rich?!
Oh, I do think that he is rich, but I'd rather not have the money flowing out of my pocket.
Right so let's lynch him!

It seems to me, at this point, that it wouldn't make any sense for anyone besides the Nepeth/HoA/Night Prophet alliance to vote for me. Yes, Khanate, GoB, and CoV are not currently allied, but given that the other three factions (I'm excluding Qadi here, I know) are allied, it doesn't make sense to try to kill someone from a potential ally. I still stand by my initial thought, which is to try to lynch Tennes. At this point, however, I would be happy to see a Tulas lynch too. Both seem pretty obviously connected to Tellan somehow. Tennes because of his refusal to vote for Tellan on Day 2, and Tulas for his out and out vendetta case against me after I revealed, and his harsh protection of Tennes to boot. It's true, it's possible that either or both of them are on the Sacrosanct square, but we can't assume that. If you guys want to waste another lynch on me, go for it, but I highly recommend that we get our ducks in line and try to lynch someone from the allied groups.

I am not willing to play through the holiday. I'm going to have a hard enough time keeping up on the three days leading up to the holiday as it is. But I would be okay getting a lynch done soon so we can complete another day late Wednesday so us in the States can go stuff our faces and not have to worry about getting modkilled.

As we talk about who to lynch, going forward, I think we need to keep this in mind. I ran across this while going through the rules for the 80th time. (underlined is mine)
All players of that faction can then respond to Path-Shaper. Once a majority of the faction (50% +1 of its players) agrees, the alliance is sealed and confirmed during the dusk phase. Alliance proposals can be maintained as long as the player who proposed it, is still alive. He can also withdraw the offer (but this does not repay him the cost of proposing the action).
If the accepting party was already part of an alliance with a faction that is anathema to the newly allied party, the old alliance is broken.
So while there is an alliance of 3 now, with the right lynch, it might all fall apart. The question is, If Tellan is in the Nepeth empire square currently, would he have been able to get to the Kalif and back to make the proposal? Probably not. Meaning Tellan isn't the one proposing the alliances. Also, if the HoA had the same person suggest both alliances, if the right/wrong person gets lynched. All alliances in that string will be broken. Just some food for thought going forward.
Regarding who to lynch, I would like to get one, regardless, well before day times out. If we keep on as is, the timers for me don't mesh very well and I would like to stir them up a bit to better coincide with my posting times. So I am open to anyone. Especially as it looks like a lynch will mean no death.

It's funny how you conveniently ignore the possibility of going after Tennes or someone among the current alliance. Looks like we have another alliance member.

In fact, combine that with your "I don't have time to play, so you might as well vote for me instead of Tellan" which you 180'd on the next day, it seems pretty solid that you're part of the alliance.

I think that's just for [b]proposals[/s] - ie if I go to the Khalif's square and propose an alliance the proposal is open until either
[a] the receiving faction agrees to it - the alliance is made
[b] the receiving faction declines it - the alliance is not made
[c] I die - at which point the proposal is removed and the alliance can no longer be agreed to by the target faction
But once the alliance is agreed to the proposal is "over" so it's not tied to the proposing player anymore.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump to this type of statement. Didn't you give permission for your faction to vote you because of your LP to hide who they are? Or are you now nervous because PS's guard makes your LP null?
Also, while people of the big alliance will certainly be out for you, even other factions who are possible allies to you would probably be willing to vote for you as it's no skin off their teeth.
Now, if sacrosanct doesn't happen tomorrow, and Tellan is a lynch option, and some people refuse to vote him... or steer like they did last time, then we might have the makings of a faction

And there's that Tennes obsession again. And do you have any evidence that Fener is part of it? And who, other than Tennas, do you propose?
(I have no problem voting Tennes, but your somewhat singleminded approach to him is curious,)
As for making hay out of my vote suggestions: I put myself at the top of the list.

It is Day 3. 19 hours and 23 minutes remaining
16 Players still alive: Ampelas, Anomandaris, Atrahal, Emurlahn, Fener, Galain, Karosis, Olar Ethil, Ruse, Silanah, Sorrit, Spite, Telas, Tellan, Tennes, Tulas Shorn
9 votes to lynch, 8 votes to go to night.
1 Vote for Tennes ( Karosis )
5 Votes for Karosis ( Ampelas, Tulas Shorn, Telas, Spite, Emurlahn )
Players not voted: Anomandaris, Atrahal, Fener, Galain, Olar Ethil, Ruse, Silanah, Sorrit, Tellan, Tennes
-------
Regarding the alliance/ proposal and it potentially falling apart upon the offering player's death:
This only goes for proposals that haven't been accepted/rejected, not for actual P-S on-thread announced alliances (text says 'proposal' in this regard).
Basically, if you shoot the messenger before he brings his message: no alliance. If you shoot him after there is one: sorry, the alliance will continue to exist.
Regarding Thanksgiving:
I am ok with freezing the game on an extended weekend break for Thanksgiving... although I just took 2 days off for more mod coverage, I'll try and re-arrange that so I have time off next week instead.
Regarding Posting times:
please keep in mind that I am the only one modding the game. I will try and do as much as I can, but... I am not getting up at 4 AM, for example. So it might be that day/night times shift out of the favor of some of our time zones. I'm sorry for that, but that's what you get with a monster like this one.
