Sounds like Cumberbatch as the narrator.

B. That stormtrooper is John Boyega, he's one of the two new MAIN cast, and the movie apparently begins with him leaving the Troopers and teaming up with Kira. I don't think it's a mistake to show the lead in the first shot...no?

But how do youcknow this? Who is Kira

Because he was announced in the cast. Kira is apparently Daisy Ridley's character's name...and she is allegedly Han and Leia's daughter.

I think my brain just exploded.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

yeah, the opening was a bit weird and the lightsaber design was kinda dumb. But otherwise pure awesome. I am stoked.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

It had the style visually that Star Trek had Im not a fan of that look. On the saber...wow that looks like shit! I know in games you can equip crystals to make the blades flicker, strobe but that just looked a bit to unstable and I hope it's gonna be used very little cause it seems like a huge eye soar. I eagerly wait for trailer 2 when we get some speaking finally.

I have a weird feeling that the character is an awoken Sith from the past and that is an old Sith Empire proto-blade. Possibly Darth Bane? The snowy tree world could be Morriban?

I'm hoping for Plaguis man. That would be a good connection for old movie fans that have no idea who someone like Bane was even though Bane was awesome.

If it is Plaguis I'm sure he ll be human/near human cause a Muun Sith just doesn't seem like a threat

I could see Plaguis having survived by Sith sleeping through Palpatine's entire era on purpose (pretending to be killed by his apprentice and all) and upon awakening also awakes Darth Bane...and the two go to town on the galaxy.

Both Plaguis (RotS mention) and Bane (TCW season 6 eps) are New Story canon. So it's totally possible.

What if the claymore saber is ceremonial?

Can we take a moment and note how cool this little soccer ball droid is?

And how about a shout out for that stormtrooper landing craft bit. Lights are flickering, troops are staggering a bit, stuff is swinging. It LOOKS like people standing in a landing craft.

EDIT - It's kinetic. It's urgent. That's what JJ brings to the table. If it was GL, he'd probably have two guys standing stock-still having a monotone conversation in shot-reverse shot filming.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it's more likely one of those; "hey guys, I got a cool idea!" factors that most scifi movies seem to have at one point or another. Most of these screenplay writers don't hang out of forums full of nitpicking fans before implementing their "great idea." If they did, we'd see less "awesome ideas!" and see more good, well though out, ideas. Since the whole point of those guards are protect the hand from damage, I suppose then it would still be moderately effective for that purpose, (unless it was used against Obi-wan, who would simply cut the darn things off first.) even if it is a light saber which can also fillet your wrist if you use too much torque.

My hopes are cautiously high for this despite bitter memories of being super excited at opening weekend for Phantom. If JJ's vision is similar to the average 80s child then this movie has to be good, doesn't it? I was trying to feel cynical but the bit with the Millenium Falcon made me make a silly noise.

I didn't see any muppets, which is good. Nice to see the Falcon... the rest, well, we'll just have to wait and see.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Well, two minutes in the YouTube comments section reminds me that people on the internet are horrible, horrible individuals.

Criticise the trailer sure...but my god the racism!

Anyway. I liked it. That shot with the Falcon had me grinning, even if the rest of it was very 'teaser'. For a year out from release, that's expected. Nice shots with the X-wings and that brief scene with the landing craft definitely made it feel more detailed/realistic. Good stuff so far.

I have to agree the lightsaber is shit. looks cool...practically...shit.

A) If you pivot your wrists you cut into your hand.
 Some weapons are supposed to grip over a guard...little known fact.
C) A shoto would have been better to see wielded in a movie.

They could have made that Sith scene a bit better. There doesn't seem to be any enemy so when he lights up his saber, it does look like all he wants to do is cut some firewood for the winter.

Let's be honest no Jedi would pick that as a place to fight. cold and miserable.

...others..others are going to fight him.
