I don't know who I look down at more - those of you mentioning the fact that our light-sabre discussion is Nerdvana, or the others of you who feel the need to preemptively defend yourselves for either taking part in our discussion, or NOT taking part in the discussion while blaming it on the level of nerdiness achieved.

If you guys really think we've hit the pinnacle of Nerdvana in just our breakdown of light-sabre engineering, then I suggest reading over some of our threads in the Polls:subforum. Any thread involving a one vs one battle between elite malazan opponents will do, however Rake vs Draconus is a personal favorite.

I think we all hit the level cap on nerdiness long ago.

Is the "International Teaser" legit? Because if it is I just shat myself.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Hmmm. I had been under the impression just the Stormtrooper, Kira, Droid, X-Wing, Falcon teaser had been released. If not, this thing spoils a shit lot of the movie but, then again, ok. Mon Calamari Cruiser going down is AWESOME.

I think you accidentally posted the wrong link. That's the same teaser we've all seen.

That's a real trailer?

If so, I just Ascended.

I've claimed the Throne of the Force, therefore I rule it as Jedi Master, King of High House Force.

No, that's super fakery fake. It's a DECENTLY done fake. But it's fake nonentheless. That was one of the ones that was circling before the actual teaser dropped.

:The Force:

Have to give the guy props. It was decently done for fan-made.

Guess I relinquish the Throne of the Force.........for now.

Plus, after all our debating about the functionality of the new light-sabre, I can't wait for there to be a scene where Character X uses one of the side emitters in combination with some sick swordsmanship to stab a foe in the jugular.

Incidentally, a friend and I were messing around with his greatsword today, and based on the length of those emitters...I hope he turns them on and off a lot and really fast because...yep...your movement set is unbelievably limited with the length seen in that video. Like, 90% of the movements you normally see in saber fights are ruled out because otherwise you're crossing your own body. XD (And yes, I'm aware most sabers have the ability to length adjust their blades to some degree...)

(Either that, or the Sith in question is of a hyper-flexible race of beings similar to the Forkrul Assail...now THAT would be badass...hard to film though)

Sith training is and always was punishing. I could see the crossguards being a form of discipline. Weild the sword WELL and WITH those crossguards...or you deserve to lose your hand.

Not ENTIRELY sure how I missed this, but Abrams announced some character names.

Daisy Ridley's character is actually named Rey (not Kira as previously thought)

John Boyega's is Finn

The Sith with the crusader saber is Kylo Ren

Oscar Isacc's X-Wing pilot is Poe Dameron

and the little ball droid that I love is called BB-8.

The name Kylo Ren is just as bad as Kylar Stern.

:)

EDIT: And neither are as good as Kyle Katarn.

Can we all name our favorite character names from SW? My vote is for Talon Karrde. Not because Talon is a cool first name — it's not. But because his ship is named Wild Karrde, which is dope.

The best thing about that little droid is that apparently they built an actual working prop. So :) to all the people who complained about it being a silly use of CGI.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

I like Kylo Ren. Sounds like Rilo Kiley. His girl probably left their successful indie rock band to become a solo alt-country chanteuse and that's why he's mad.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
